Recoil systems (and a lot of Qs)

Okay, I just got my Para and I love it during slowfire. However, I am a skinny guy and bringing the gun back down for fast follow up shots (ala IPSC) is difficult. The gun was bought used and the last owner lost the guiderod cap and just replaced the whole system with a conventional guiderod.

My questions are: Will going to a full-length help? Should I change recoil springs? I saw STI has the recoil master system. Will it fit in my Para? Will it help? Is it legal for Limited class competition?

I shoot WWB 230 grains right now, but next month I will have secured a reloader. Whould different loads help? If so, which ones?

A full length guide rod will do nothing but add an ounce of weight. Noticeable only if you know what to look and feel for.
I don't know about an STI recoilmaster but a Sprinco is again just enough cushion to notice but not a huge difference.
The best way to reduce recoil is when you get your loading gear and load ammo to power factor 170 (minimum Major of 165 plus a safety factor) instead of the 186 of hardball.
And practice.

Ditto on the Sprinco system. I bought one on Commercial Row at Camp Perry last year. I have fiddled with everything from the old Shock-Buff pads to other spring reducers and wound up dumping them all except the Sprinco. The Sprinco is well made and it just takes the edge off full-house loads enough to let you shoot all day comfortably. I shot 750 rounds a day for five days in a row with it last year. No recoil fatigue.

The full-length guides add a little useful nose weight to a Commander size gun. In a 5 ½ inch gun a ribbed slide does about as much.
