recoil reducers

Anyone tried any of these. I like the knoxx and the new hogue tamer. How do they work though, I mean mechanically. And are they worth it?

Before spending all that money. spend a bit on ammo. Use 7/8 oz loads for practice and work up as your form improves.

Considering how much we all spend on our guns and the ammo, $35 for a recoil reducer (~$42 w/ shipping) is peanuts. I would also suggest a good recoil pad such as a Limbsaver or Hi-Viz. I'm all for reducing recoil as much as possible (and practical). It makes for better and more enjoyable shooting. I have nothing to prove by beating the heck out of my own shoulder.

Dairyland, I agree. However, no amount of gadgets will substitute for good fit and form.

I just shot 100 shells at wobble from low gun. The shotgun was an 870 with a field stock, no extra weight nor addons. Total weight is around 7 lbs.

No soreness, I could go do it again right now. Best round was a 23. 7/8 oz works.

BreachersGrip??

The BreachersGrip is the only recoil-reducing PGO on the market. When you fire the shotgun, the shotgun and the receiver extension or slide move rearward over the top of the grip about 1.2 inches. This movement is against a roller attached to a cam lever attached to an extension spring. The spring is extended and the recoil pulse is dramatically reduced and extended. The net reduction in peak recoil is over 50% and the felt reduction can be as much a 90%. The remainder of the energy in the spring moves the shotgun back into start position, ready to shoot again. This all happens in about 20 milliseconds and you won't even notice that it moves. You will just not get your hand beaten up by the recoil anymore.

The BreachersGrips is the only PGO that I would consider using because you can truly control the shotgun. If a PGO is in your future, it should be a BreachersGrip.

I got the Knoxx on my 870 and it is teriffic. The adjustable stock makes it easy to get a good mount and it does an amazing job reducing felt recoil.
