I am considering a recoil reducer for my SIG P229.
Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thx,
Phil K.

i have a harts recoil reducer for my sig p228 and i don't notice a difference. the manufacturers did admit that the difference may not be as great on a 9mm vs. a .45 acp.

Bigbucks-
Check out the sprinco line of products. A lot of people on SIG-L use them in all of their SIGs. I just ordered one for my P228, but I haven't gotten it yet.

Sprinco's page is at www.sprinco.com, but you can get them from www.streetpro.com for a discount over what sprinco asks.

Good luck!

When I had my Sig 229 .40 S&W (which I just bought another one) I used a Sprinco recoil reducer in it... The unit worked well, at making the sharp recoil of the .40 S&W more like a .45, i.e. more rolling like... Felt recoil is a subjective matter to begin with, but the use of the Sprinco unit made it seem like the recoil was reduced... Personally though, I think one of the best things about the product is that the secondary spring slows the slide down at the end of travel and helps to decrease the battering between the slide and frame (hence longer frame life).

Depends on what you are trying to accomplish. The Sprinco will greatly reduce the slide battering the frame and slow down the recoil impluse, spreading it out over a long time. To reduce muzzle flip the Haarts seems to work better, but I have found them only marginally effective in a 9mm. They are at their best in a .45 or 10mm. Generally speaking I use Haarts in a long barrel .40 cal or larger, shorter barrel or 9mm I use Sprinco.
