Recoil question ox semi auto

I have a XDM 40 cal only have ran 300 rounds through it. But i noticed that it has more recoil and more barrel lift than my 45.

Is there a way to reduce recoil on this gun? i use a fairly firm grip and never had a problem with this before. But this is my first XDM and was thinking it may be an issue with the break in period as to it may take longer.

Recoil "feel" is subjective and depends largely on the gun design and weight.
A gun won't have any less recoil after it's broken in than when brand new.

There's not much you can do to a pistol to actually reduce recoil other than trying a stronger recoil spring (which can cause reliability problems) add weight to the gun by installing metal grips or a tungsten guide rod, using less powerful ammo or lighter bullets, or by having the barrel ported to form a muzzle brake.

In your case, I'd imagine the lighter XDM with a different grip and different height of the bore above your hand may be different than the .45 pistol.

.40 cal. is definitely more "zippy" than the lower pressure slower .45 ACP. It's a good round but not if you don't care for the recoil impulse. To answer your question, no, there's really very little you can do about it. Especially on a polymer frame.

im going to have to get use to it. Its not too much recoil it just take a few shots to adjust for it. Dont get me wrong its a great gun and i love it just thought that the recoil would have been less.
