Recoil pad for H&R Rifles?

Hi guys, just put down a reserve on a H&R Ultra Hunter Varmint .223 but was gonna get a .30-30 barrel for it for deer season (Will post pics when it comes in) My question is who makes a recoil pad that will fit the stock. Anyone know?

PS: I am on a budget so if you can find something reasonable please let me know. Thanks, I looked around and was clueless. LOL.:D

If you have a simple disk sander (like the kind that fits on a drill), it's easy to grind your own. Pacymayrs grind easy.

Can be done that way, but it's hard to achieve a professional-looking result where the comb and toe angles are correct, and match the stock lines precisely. You really need a pad-grinding jig, and a benchtop disc/belt sander to keep it all true. I do about four or five a week...

Midway has an excellent DIY video on it if you can't find any pre-fits- but check Pachmayr's site before you go to a grind-to-fit, they might make one to fit your rifle.

Tobnpr, you are absolultely correct that a hand grind job isn't going to give you the precise angles that a proper jig will give you.

On the other hand, the poster is wanting to put a recoil pad on an H&R. You could grind the pad with a lemon zester and it wouldn't hurt the value of that firearm.

Read about a guy who bought $2 black flipflops, cut them to shape and superglued it to his rifle. He was perfectly happy with it.
