Recoil pad for 11-87 Premier?

I'd like to replace the existing pad with something better. Any recommendations? Anybody know which Limbsaver fits this gun? Thanks!

I think that the limbsaver pad for the 870 will fitt the 1187. You may want to look into a Kick-eez, but this requires some gunsmithing.

Limbsaver's website doesn't list the Premier model specifically, just the '92 SP. BUT, it shows the same model for that as the 870 WM and I'd guess that's what would work. I've e-mailed their sales department to confirm and hope to hear back soon which model (if any) fits exactly.

Charlie - you were right about the limbsaver for the 870 fitting. It's model 10102 and the manufacturer confirmed it. Thanks.

11-87 recoil pad

Just ran into the same situation. Took my 11-87 back to the gun shop I purchased it from and they tried to fit the part #10102.

It would not fit. This was confirmed by Remington.

Now mine has a wood stock and there is where the difference lies. The 10102 will fit a synthetic stock but not a wood one.

I was advised to go the grind and fit route which I have yet to do. The gun shop wanted my 11-87 for 2 weeks to do the job.

Hope this info helps.

Plinky- It sure does! Thanks! Fortunately, I hadn't ordered the 10102 yet. Are you considering anything else? Pachmayr, Hogue or KickEez? (any others?)

Think I'm going with the Limbsaver grind to fit part #10542 as per Limbsavers recommendation.

Found a local gunsmith who can turn the project around pretty quick.

I'll let you know how it turns out.

I purchased the 11-87 because I was led to believe it had considerable less recoil than a pump gun. I found for me this was not the case at all. Going through a box of Rem Gun Club Target loads left me feeling like I'd had enough for the day. When I go shooting I like to be out for a few hours. I only notice a slight difference in recoil. Don't know if my stance is incorrect or if I'm just that recoil sensitive.

I was surprised by the recoil as well. I'd used a Mossberg 500 with a Pachmayr pad and that felt considerably softer than my new 11-87 with a stock pad. I wasn't beat up or anything, but could tell I'd been out shooting after 2 boxes of the same shells you were using.

Please tell me how the grind to fit works, and thanks for the part number.

Limbsaver update AKA the gas waster

Talked to Limbsaver about which pad to use and they confirmed that the #10542 (medium size) was the way to go.

Took gun and pad to the gunsmith. He called not to long after I left and informed me that the #10542 was to big (couldn't grind enough off) and said I would have to go with the #10541 (small size) pad.

Nice thing is he is willing to get the pad himself.

Not so nice thing is I will have to make another trip to the gun shop to return the #10542. This will be trip number three. Round trip to the gun shop is fifty miles.

This should really be easy on the shoulder because I won't have any gas left to go to the range. Joking of course, I'll always find a way to get there.

Got the 11-87 back with correct Limbsaver securley in place. It does a nice job of reducing felt recoil.

However I've notice that I now have a very prominent flinch shooting the
11-87 right handed. To my surprise there is no flinch when I tried shooting left handed. This some what confuses me but makes me realize the problem can be delt with. Re-training the mind would be my guess.
