recoil comparisons

How much difference is there in felt recoil between a 7mm mag and a .308? I shoot a .308 that weighs about 12.5lbs. with scope, sling, and fully loaded. The recoil does not bother me at all with this gun. Would I know the difference if the 7mm weighed the same?

Also how much life would I get out of the barrel in the 7mm mag with factory loads?
 
Sigh, I do not have a .308. However, I have often shot side-by-side a Savage 110 in 7MM Rem Mag and a Remington 700 in .270, both wood stocked hunters and similarly equipped.

Felt recoil may be a personal thing, but I sure notice the difference between the two. LOVE the 7MM Mag, but if it's about shooting all day long the .270 (or your .308 caliber) certainly gets my vote.

Where do you get your figures on the felt recoil? And what is the felt recoil of a 12 ga. slug and a 300 win. mag thanks J
