Recoil comparison

ChuckHawks has a .270WSM at about 18.7lbs and a .30-06 at 20.1lbs for amount of recoil.

You guys that have shot them both, do you feel this about right? I fully understand how weight of the rifle, design of the rifle, etc all play a part in perceived recoil, but I'm just asking in general with all other factors being the same... just trying to get a feel for the round. Thanks!

To me the .270 is a sharper instant recoil and the 30-06 is more of a push back both were just everyday hunting low cost rifles and I would rather shoot the 30-06 more so...

Like said above, the magnums have a much higher recoil velocity. The Marketing Mags are in lighter, short action rifles than the 30-06.

Yes, a 30-06 shooting a 180 gr bullet can produce more recoil than a 270 WSM shooting a 130 gr bullet.

Google an online recoil calculator and plug in the numbers to see for yourself.
