Rebuild my LC smith

I have all the hardware from my father's L.C. Smith 20 ga. Field Grade. It was his prized possession while he was alive and he hunted with it regularly. The stock cracked badly, and I discarded it several years ago (bad decision).

Now I want to make it like new, but I don't know how to find the gunsmith to do the job. He'll have to hand fit the stock, etc.

Help!

Thanks,

Pete

This is the wrong place to ask. Try this BBS:

Your gun needs professional restoration by someone who works with Elsies (L C Smiths).

Is the gun worth restoring or refinishing to shootable condition? If the Barrels and Action are in good shape look for a professional stockmaker for a new stock. This way you can get a stock made to your dimensions, rather than the original dimensions which may not fit you.

I love old American doubles, but hey are way overpriced in today's market.

Thanks for the link. The "Elsie"is definitely shootable, and I will use it when it is redone. Good idea on the stock.
