I would like to get my old Ruger Security Six reblued. I have hear that Ruger will do this for $50. Is this acccurate? What else will they do to it when I send it in - and anyone else sent theirs in for this work, were you happy with the results?

Thanks as always for the info.

That sounds about right. Usually they check over the whole gun and replace any worn parts. Usually this is free, all you pay for is the reblue. If you have any aftermarket grips or other parts I suggest you remove them before sending it in. For instance an aftermarket mainsping would probably get replaced by a stock one. The service at Ruger is great. They even replaced a hammer for me that a gunsmith botched up. That was free no cost to me at all.

I'm not sure what all Ruger is willing to do;
upon receipt of your firearm; but rest assured, the Ruger Security-Six was, is, and
always will be one FINE handgun!!! :) Sorry,
I sold the two that I owned. :(

I have sent in at least three Security Sixes; two for rebuilds after extensive use, and one basket case picked up for a song. All were reblued and the price was in that range. They do a checkout of the gun and replace anything that really needs it. Quality of the work is good and price is reasonable. You will not do better elsewhere. They are not fast, but I have been very satisfied with their customer service.

Amen--they are fine guns. Mine is the one gun I will not be found without.

I just bought a used Beretta 96 for $300. Does anybody know if Beretta has this service and how much?

If Ruger reblues it, they will also test it for function and (probably) replace any worn parts for free. If the gun comes back unclean, it was probably test fired too (I've seen plenty of customer guns waiting to be test fired).
