Rebate on Smith and Wesson Shield...

Figures.......

I bought a 9mm with NS in January.

I'd consider another one with a $75.00 rebate.

Its a nicely made single stack.

I'm considering another except in 45 this time around, wish they made a 4" version like the XDS can be found in but I suppose that's okay.

Sorry of my life; "a day late and a dollar short". Just got a Shield .45ACP a few weeks ago. A great gun. With a rebate, I'd rate it fantastic!

They do sorta. Its called the Compact.
And as soon as they release the "mod2" in the compact series a 40 version will follow me home.
Being I bought my 45 shield right after release I pd a premium but no regrets.

The .45ACP Shield with the thumb safety that is sitting on the shelf at the local Cabelas wants to come home with me!

There is always a reason for rebates. Business stay in business by making money, not giving it away. If S&W were able to sell Shields for 2k per copy, you'd have to pay 2k for one.

My guess is inventory of Shields is not moving. Another guess is that S&W is going to discontinue Shields.

Maybe they are making room for the Shield 2.0. :)

Shield prices are falling all over;( I'm also) wonder(ing) if an M2 model is planned for next year?

there, fixed it

While we might see a revamp of the Shield I'd be pretty surprised if they discontinued it entirely.

Emphatic +1. Talking to LGS employees in my area, this is one of THE top selling firearms on the market—not just one of the top-selling Smith pistols, but one of their top sellers period.

I surmise that S&W produced too many of them late last year in preparation for Christmas and an adverse election outcome that didn't happen, and is running the rebates to seize even more market share while throwing a bone to their (now overstocked) retailers.

^ I've seen the same in terms of sales at the LGSes near me (the Shield is basically their go to for a lot of sales). And your explanation seems like a good one.

I just bought my second Shield 45. I was looking at the 9mm but the 45 grip texture is very comfortable and shooting it has very mild recoil. Smith and Wesson does have an excess inventory of the Shields. Most gun manufacturers anticipated a gun run based on the politics. As there is no pressure at the current time they all have guns to move.

Probably gonna grab one in .45 asap. I've had one in 9mm and it was excellent. $75 rebate means an awesome carry piece in a low price, win/win.
