Rebarrel to 45 cal in Marlin 336A

Is it doable to chamber a Marlin 336A for the .452 pistol cartidges? I see the 45s have a case rim dia of 5.2 while my thuty thuty rim is about .50. I also notice that the 47-70 has a rim of .608, but I'm not sure that's the same action as the 336. Also, what would be the practical pressure limits in psi?

Difficulties

The problem with redoing the Marlin 336 to a .45 pistol round is not the diameter, or the pressure, it is the length. The action will handle the pressure ok, but the short length of the round would require a special built lifter (cartridge carrier), and maybe some other modifications in order to feed the very short (by .30-30 standards) rounds.

This is the main reason the Win 92 and Marlin 1894 actions are used for pistol rounds instead of the Win model 94 or Marlin 336. Manufacturers found out a long time ago that it is better business sense to built the action length for the rounds intended than to try to use a one size fits all approach.

For a one of a kind custom approach, I'm sure it could be done, but paying a professional for the his time to figure it out and make it, and keep tweaking it until he gets it just right (assuming you can find some one who likes this kind of challenge) will cost more than buying a new 1894 or two.
 
cptmclark,,marlin made a 336 in 44 mag back in the early 70's,,, i'm thinking 72-73 some where along in there,, they are a little hard to find but they are out there,,,it may be easier to find one of those and re-barrel it with a 45 barrel,,,and a little fitting here and there,,, or maybe you could check at gun parts or numeric(i know that's not spelled right),,, and find a carrier,,, just thought i would through that out there for ya
