rebarrel howa .270win to 8x57js ,howa action

i now have the ruger mkII in 6.5x55se, i also have a .270win in my collection theyr too close together.they use the same bullet weights. miss having an 8mm. always wanted a modern 8mm. has any body ever had a bolt action rebarreled by ershaw. was thinking about the varmit contour at 24".

While there is no reason this can't be done, the total cost might be more than selling the Howa and buying a Remington 700 Classic. The Howa is a metric thread and usually costs a little more if you buy aftermarket barrels. The place I talked to about a rebarrel of a Howa wanted about $50 more than for a Mauser or Rem 700. I've got a couple of hackjob Mausers and would kindof like to have a 700 Classic 8mm but I'm not so enamored as to spend that kind of $$ on one. Unless you handload, the 8mm is inferior to the common 30/06 for most uses(disregarding the cheap & possibly dangerous WW2 ammo). If you max out the handloads, it's close to equal.
