Rear sights

Greetings,
After having several rear sight adjustment screws shear off from recoil on my Benelli M1 Entry, I am looking for a more reliable rear ghost-ring sight.

While I am going to utilize the gggaz option and place a EOTech 552 on top of my M1 Entry, you would think that someone must make a reliable rear sight to use as a backup.

Has anyone here tried the MMC sight http://www.mmcsight.com/shotgun.htm or the BAR11R Ghost Ring rear sight from http://www.precisionsights.com/tac.html or the LPA Precision rear sight from http://www.vangcomp.com/ or have another suggestion?

The options you've listed are all OK. Two additional options are the Scattergun Technologies Trak-Lock ghost ring sight (see http://www.wilsoncombat.com/accessories/sgt_access/traklock.asp), which is expensive but good, or the Mossberg ghost ring sight set (see http://www.mossberg.com/acatalog/conversions.htm - scroll down to find sights only, rather than fitted onto a barrel), which is very low-cost ($62 plus shipping) and can be fitted onto almost any shotgun. I've seen it on Mossbergs, Remingtons, Winchesters and a Benelli. It's my personal choice, for reasons of economy.

Benelli is now using the LPA rear sight. It is far superior to the POC they used to use. Unfortunately, they are still using the same junky front sight.

LPA makes a rear sight that will clamp onto the GG&G base, but it requires a much higher front sight.

I've also been running a MMC Ghost Ring on my 1201 for 7 or so years. Got a Tritium dot front sight. Love the set up and haven't had any problems.

Which front sights are the MMC rears compatible with when mounted on an 870? (Scattergun Tech, Ashley Outdoors Big Dot Tritium)

The Ashely Big Dot Tritium most interests me. Does anyone have any experience with it?

Thanks,
Beren

Greetings again,
I have the Ashely Big Dot Tritium on a S&W 629 and it is great for quick acquisition, but definately not for precision...

Beren:

Your will need a front sight that is about .65" high to work with
a MMC rear. The Scattergun front sight will work. The AO/Express Sight won't work unless it is on a ramp.
