rear pistol grip

who makes a good quality rear pistol grip for a remington 870 that has the regular swivel stud for the sling on the bottom of the grip? I've heard tac-star is good, but it has the long "loop through" sling hole on the top of the grip.

I like the tac-star one, because it looks thick and eaiser to control, but the pics on this site is not clear :

notice on the top picture of the whole gun, it shows the "loop" on the top of the grip. but click on the link for the grip, it shows a close-up, but it looks like the picture has been tampered with, like the loop has been painted over.

Maybe just get the tac-star, cut and sand the loop off the top of it, and just put the swivel stud on the bottom? or do you guys have any other suggestions on how to mod it?

Are you talking about just a pistol grip? NO stock? No, no , no , no. Seriously they are simply not worth it. It is very hard to hit anything with one of those things. I think they are a total utter waste of time. such guns are pointless save for very specialised use.

For over 5 years, I've challenged those folks who espouse PG only shotguns to shoot against me.

They can shoot any stockless shotguns with any accessories, choose the ammo and course of fire.I'll use a fairly stock 870.

Results published here and on THR.

To date, no one has taken up the gauntlet.

No one.

PG only shotguns have little use besides breaching tools. Most civilians have no need to breach doors.

The defense rests....

A normal shotgun has 3 points of contact with your body. A pg shotgun has 2. Your always gonna have people saying how it's not accurate and a lot less accurate than a normal shotgun. You will most likely be less accurate with it. You'll feel the 3" mags. My opinion is that it's a good idea. I don't have an ego and have to challenge everyone. Depends what u want it for. If it's gonna be a recreation gun, for fun... I'm all for it. Home defense, I'm all for it. Unless you are totally incompetant, U'll be able to hit a person size target at 20 feet. If you shoot competition trap or other competition based shotgun sport, then I would say don't do it. If you were serious about compition, you wouldn't be asking this question. I shot a little trap in the back yard and was able to hit the clay. Wasn't doing anything crazy. Why do you want a PG on your shotgun? I went to my local gun shop and bought what they had.

The challenge posted is like racing 2 mustangs... 1 with a V8 and one with a V6,..

All of these forum sites are the same, everybody wants to voice their on opinions when somebody asks a simple question. All I did was ask if something would work. I just want a PG, to use for HD and plinking. I didn't ask if it was worth it, I don't care about competing against somebody with it. I don't care about using 3" magnums, mostly what I shoot is 2-3/4 #8 shot target loads. To me those kick about like my .22, recoil doesn't bother me. There needs to be rules on forums, if your post doesn't contribute to the thread, don't post.

Dude, you should have said that. Its impossible for anyone to know if you want one for a toy, or one day to save your families life. I dont think anyone here has insulted you, and if I did I am truly sorry. I think all everyone was saying is that if you want this for HD , then no it may be a bad idea. Dont forget a lot of folks post here with no gun experince at all.

I see nothing wrong with using just a rear pistol grip for home defense only, however I prefer the stock with the pistol grip attached because I can still go shoot skeet without having to change the stock/grip.All i have to do is swap out my 18.5" barrel with the 24".When at home my mossberg 500A always has the 18.5" barrel on it but for skeet shooting it only takes about a minute to take it off and slap on the 24".

I wasn't getting upset or mad.etc. I guess I should have worded it a little better on my part, I'm not trying to offend anybody by my previous post, but you have to admit that's almost every forum site you go to there's people that do that and it just bugs the sh*t out of me.:p I"m just scared to post sometimes, because I'm a noob to whatever site I"m on and I"m afraid I'll get shot down in flames. Kinda like i did in this thread.:D

anyways, back on topic.

I'm just going to use it for hd and shooting stuff, i.e. anything that will blow up or disenegrate when hit, jugs of colored water, old toasters, and what-not.

These are something to consider. Reduce recoil significantly. I have the copstock. started out with rear pistol grip and couldnt hit anything, got a forward pistol grip and my accuracy improved a little. but i acknowledged the need for a buttstock provision, however even with the stock folded recoil is reduced.

I like the first one, but it says pre-order, and there's no price on it.:(

The new Knoxx SpecOps Folder will sihp in about 60 days with a suggested retail of $119.95. The Pistol Grip Only BreachersGrip retails for $99.95 and makes shooting 3" slugs fun and easy, even one-handed. It is available now.

Mate, this is the most friendliets shooting site on the web- good moderators too, so whatever you do dont be put off posting! Sounds like you are on the roght track. Put a sure fire fore end on it and try some night shooting- great fun!

I"m going to wait until the folding spec-ops stock comes out, I know it's the same as the copstock but I think it looks better.

What's going to be the cheapest place to get one anyways?

after staring at both of them a while, I've decided to get the folding copstock instead of the folding specops stock, 1. I think it looks a little more comfortable, 2. That filled in area will just be a blind spot. and I just noticed that I'll have to get a new fore-end too, because with the stock folded into pistol grip mode, the oem fore-end will hit the stock, and not slide back all the way. eh, oh well, just another excuse to spend more money on upgrades.:D Has anyone ordered directly from www.knoxx.com before? any negative feedback I need to know about?
