I used to have the Spec Ops version, but got cheekslap with it so I sold it. I never really liked the "tactical" look to them, anyway. I just put a Compstock on my 870, and took it out today. MAN! Slugs felt very mild. Buckshot about the same as slugs, and birdshot was an absolute joke! I also like the more traditional look of the stock. Only complaint I have is that it doesn't have a sling stud in the syock. there is a hole for a stud, but intsalling one in that hole will interfere with the recoil reduction system, so they advise you to drill another hole 1.5" up from the hole. That will put the sling stud pretty close to the pistol grip of the stock. Don't know why they couldn't have included a sling stud with the stock.

Yeah, I love my Compstock on my 590.
I thought about mounting a sling after a recent hog hunting trip where my arms were sore the other day.
I wonder why I couldn't simply machine out the bottom of the sleeve that covers the sling mount hole?
Well, it'd probably be easier just to drill a new hole.

I have one on a Mossberg 835. I just drilled the hole for the stud like the directions said. Works great, gun carries well, and allows me to shoot the heavier loads. Well worth the money to me.
