a new Caesar Guerini 20 gauge Summit Sporting. I had the pleasure of borrowing a loaner Blaser F3 12 gauge sporter, but lost my infatuation with the gun after two days. Heavy and unbalanced for me. I then tried out a new CG 20 gauge for an entire afternoon and couldn't believe how much I enjoyed the sub-gauge gun. I also shattered clays at will. The gun was beautifully balanced and swung like a dream. Now, I need to clear out one of my Brownings... :confused:

I came close to buying one lat Thursday. As I was also interested in a used one I e-mailed CG about the warranty and asked if it is assignable to the new owner of a used one. They replied that it isn't, but at their discretion they try to extend it to buyers of used guns and that if I bought a used one they would give me a complimentary pit stop.
 
Unless you really want a dedicated 20 gauge target gun... I would find a 12 gauge that you are really comfortable with and then contact Briley or Kolar and have a 20 gauge tube set made for it...

I love 20 gauges but not enough to buy a dedicated 20 gauge target gun...
 
I prefer a dedicated 20 gauge gun...

I cannot stand sub-gauge tubes. Had a set of 28's for one of my Browning sporters. Sold them within months. I enjoy shooting 20 bore more than any other gauge...
 
On my bucket list is a long barreled 20 gauge O/U, say 30" and a fitted stock. BTW, I like the Blasers I've tried, and do not see them as loglike and slow.
 
the Blaser is a quality gun as are most premium O/U's. I guess I liked the feel of the Italian gun a little more, especially since I was afforded the opportunity to get some lengthy trigger time with both guns. The CG Summit Sporting is a relatively inexpensive gun to boot, retailing for $3300. Lifetime warranty with three free tuneups is tough to beat. Blaser comes with a 10 year warranty and no free service calls...
 
When I am in the mood for sporting with a 20, I use my cheap Browning Ultra XS sporting model - has Dave's 30" barrels and a neutral stock (for us LH folks). Weighs right at 7.5#, or about a pound lighter than my 12 gauge with 32" barrels. Shooting reloaded 3/4oz ammo, it is light recoiling and fun to shoot
 
Don't exclude the Browning Citori XS Skeet model - in a 20ga with 30" barrels ...and its ported / which is a big plus in my book !! ...and its retailing for around $ 3,000 ..so its affordable as well.

The 2nd gun from the top in this photo - is my 20ga XS Skeet model ( 12ga at the top / 20ga / 28ga and .410 ) all 30" barrels. 20ga, 28ga and .410 are all built on the 20ga receiver ...and for what its worth / I know a local retailer that has a very nice 28ga ( like mine ) for $ 1,900 - or at least it was there last week.
 
Looking at your locations, you could even make an appointment and drive over to Guerini USA on the eastern shore for a visit. Assuming you haven't already. What great folks.

I've been talking about getting another Guerini for 6 years or so, but life got in the way again and again. (Not to mention things like that $2500 Swiss Army pistol I bought a month ago.)

All I have so far is this 28 ga. Woodlander.

Something different than a Browning....no,no,no,no...( I'm plugging my ears ...)....

( I have a couple of Benelli Super Sports ...) ...but those don't count...

If you really want something different - go to Blazer, Kolar or Krieghoff...( open up the check book a little ...)...

I'm a retired cheapskate!! I want a fairly good 20 gauge Italian gun that won't break the piggy bank! But then, I just received a set of Carlson extended sporting clay chokes for my Weatherby/SKB 20 gauge Orion. I may not even need another 20... :rolleyes:
 
Hey, I understand....

I'm out shopping for a couple more S&W revolvers ..model 27's ( older ones) this weekend too ...( and I have quite a few already ) ...its the process that's the most fun...like I've said before / but there's a couple thousand dollars burning a hole in my pocket ..so something will probably follow me home.

Take a look at the Benelli Super Sport model in a 20ga ....28" barrel ...nice light guns .. does everything pretty well / might be ugly - might not be ..in carbon fibre finish ...but its certainly different...( my grandkids think its sexy)...
