Re-seating a too long of a finished round (45 acp lrn)

I just finished loading a trial load batch (45 acp lrn ) only did 50 before a trip to the range. Some how i managed to load them .019" too long. They are at 1.270 COL with a LEE factory crimp at .473 lite crimp. My question is can i just lower the seating die .019" and rerun thru the Lee FCD without complications. This i my first time loading lead, so everything is a learning curve. Thanks

Since you crimped them already, you can not go back and seat the bullets deeper. The lead will shave for 0.019" and you will loose accuracy. Get out your kinetic bullet puller, pull the bullets, re-bell the mouth of the case, charge the case, seat the bullet to the correct distance this time, then crimp. Not so bad since you only did 50. Imagine if you had done a couple thousand.

Vance,
Do you have any data on that?

I might have lost accuracy, but not sure it was a measurable amount.

SK1911, go ahead and synch them down a little further. I've done it a few times without problem. Just squeeze 'em down, then re-crimp.

Thanks for all the responses. My bad for not trying them in a barrel after one or three. But they fit the Wilson Gage, fell rite in (flush),but had to tap to get out. ill push the previous 50 down and re-crimp. Next batch will be at 1.245 . ( 50 pcs trial). I'm finding reloading to to a interesting but challenging hobby.

End results

Thanks to all, who added insight to my dilemma. i did seat the rounds deeper and they shot fine. i also loaded up 50 W231 @ 5.0 grns and 50 W231 @ 4.2 grns. ( per hogdon web site ).

So here is another Question? There (hogdon) shows a COL of 1.200 for 230 grn LRN. i did a few trials at this COL and they where at the bullet shoulder. They seem short, but the trials i seated at 1.270 were to long and the shoulder of the bullet was hitting the rifling.
I finally calculated a maximum length of 1.255, so with variance +-.005". I set my COL at 1.250". I figured this what put the bullet a few thousands less than touching the rifling.

So after all that my question is a handgun round more accurate if loaded COL is closest to the rifling with out actually touching it?

Before playing with the over all length of your reloads, make sure they slide up and down in the magazine ok.
It won't help if the rounds fit the chamber and don't work in your mags - all of them.
I go about it the other way 'round.
Using the maximum overall length that works in the mags, and then see what's what in the chamber.

Did that first thing, with rounds loaded at 1.270 for a LRN. Found out the hard way that bullet profile also maters. Loaded some plated SWC ( not Speer ) at the Speers COL for that bullet and they would not feed in the magazine. So now the empty trial loads get run thru the magazine first. I also found that just relying on Wilson's gauge can result in issues as well. The more I reload the more I realize how easy it is to make mistakes..

I did the same thing last year with 200rds. I just seated to the correct depth and ran them thru the crimp die. Seemed to work OK.
