Re-Reading things you've read

Just loaded up the full sized USP for protection tonight. As I opened the box and loaded the pistol, found myself looking at and rereading the Operator's Manual. It's full of don't do's, also list's the Safety Rules. Also has things in red such as "STOP! KNOW HOW TO CLEAR THIS PISTOL BEFORE ATTEMPTHING TO OPERATE". This is in caps because it's in caps in the book. I counted at least 15 cautions/warnings in the book from front to back (not a big book). This book has more info then a basic T.O. on changing out an engine on an F-16. And you can't beat the by-line of the company, "In a world of compromise, some don't". Point is, what do others expect? I don't see this much info or warnings on a pack of ciggs (yes, I smoke, no, I didn't get on the wagon for "free money" from the companies). Also, from years of "training" from my father, these safety rules are too hard to forget. Every time I touch a gun, all the old training comes back to me. Geez, the more I think about it, I should sue the gun industry, plus my parents.. why.. because they keep on reminding me of those damn safety rules! USP45usp.

P.S. Sure enough, I'm rereading that damn manual from HK again. Will it never end?

HK's motto used to be, "In a world of compromise, some MEN don't." Guess that was too, er, insensitive. :D

I reread my guns' manuals about once a month, and I'm always struck by the fact that well over half the info is safety-related. And yet, "gun makers are irresponsibly marketing and distributing their products."

The change in HK's motto was prompted by female employees who expressed to company executives their concern about such a gender specific reference.
