Re: parts?

i recently bought a ruger police service six, i was wondering since its no longer made should i get extra parts? i don't plan on shooting much as this is my woods gun, i'll put about 20-50rds to get the feel then only a few rds a month if that, probably only fire it when its needed. do you think spare parts is needed because i know that soon they may run out? do ya'll keep any on hand? i have been checking and some springs are fairly easy to find, wolf makes a new hammer and trigger spring kit. but the firing pin and spring i can't find. probably never need them but peace of mind having them helps. if i just had the firing pin and spring i would feel better, the other stuff seems to be easy find. just the firing pin and spring seems to be bought up. thanks for any help.

Most parts, other than springs, need to be properly fitted.
So having them on hand is only part of it.
Unless you're planning on doing the work, if the gun needs help, a gunsmith would probably rather diagnose and supply the parts themselves.
Personally, I wouldn't bother about it, with a sturdy gun like a Ruger.
Especially with the little bit of use you've described for it.

Just go ahead and use this need for spare parts as an excuse to get yourself another Ruger Six :D.

I have two of them and, I must admit, while I never expect to need a spare part, it does bring a certain measure of peace to my mind ;).

Even better.
Having a spare gun absolutely guarantees the first one will never break.

You can play Two Gun Pete, too.
