RE: Best Pistol Collection/Setup?

I was wondering about the best setup or collection of pistols to get. I figure you need AT LEAST 1 revolver, 1 concealed carry, 1 full size, 1 .22 for range plinking, and 1 1911 style.

Did I miss anything as to the setup, not necassarily the particular types of guns?

I would also like to have two of one all around type. Say a medium sized semi-automatic. So that you could have a stock one and a tricked out one with night sights and maybe a tac light or some other work done to it.

What are you're ideas of a perfect balanced setup?

How about...1 ea. stainless, blue, polymer in each caliber. One of each from favorite manufacturer. 1 each of collector's items...ie vintage 1911 from WW2.
The possibilities are endless! Welcome to the club

Speaking of collector pieces, there's an awesome set of rare COLT BOA revolvers in 4" and 6" with consecutive serial numbers up for bid on gunbroker.com. Schweeeeeet set of wheel guns with a big price tag! :D

shouldn't a basic collection tell the story of the handgun?

colt 1851 navy
colt SAA
webley mk IV (breaktop)
smith m-10 (med frame)
colt 1917 (large frame)
luger (1st military auto)
walter pp (DA)
fn p-35 (hi-cap)
hk vz70 (1st production ploymer)
hk p-7 (squeeze cocker)
smith m-60 (1st stainless)
smith m-342 (1st Ti)

i think a "good set-up" would include
.22 pistol
.22 revolver
.357 revolver
9mm auto hi-cap
.45 single stack

I'm aiming for this "set-up" in a few years or so(when I finally have some money) :

1) High-powered compact auto(got this covered -- a G33)

2)Target .22 Auto(most likely a Buckmark, maybe a Russian one if I can try it out first)

3).357 Revolver(probably a GP-100 -- it just fits my hand sooo well)

4)Snubby .38(maybe a Taurus M85 or a used Centennial)

5)Ultra-compact .32auto(probably a Tomcat)

6)Full Size .45 Auto(some 1911, hopefully a Kimber, probably something cheaper)

7)Full Size .357Sig/.40(G31 or G35)

8)Full Size 9mm(one of the ones with hi-caps readily available--CZ75, Hi-power, Baretta, etc.)

Shouldn't this thread be in the General Handguns Forum?

I would say that the collection should be well rounded and suit the collector's taste. Here's my goal: (ones in bold I currently have)

- .22 pistol (Junk Gun, Plinker, Revolver, Match Grade, BATF banned list and a AOW)
- .22 Rifle (Plinker, Match Grade and BATF banned list)
- .223 Pistol
- .223 Rifle
- 9mm Pistol (Conceal Carry, Plinker)
- 9mm Carbine (Carbine and BATF banned list)
- .45 Pistol - 1911a
- C&R Pistol
- C&R Rifle
- Shotgun

Enjoy your collection.

Smiley,
As you can see, your collection is YOUR COLLECTION! Buy what you like and what you can afford. Kinda like cars. One guy might like luxury cars or sports cars or German cars or American cars. It's all about what the collector likes. Oh yeah, and have FUN doing it! This is one hobby where the one with the most toys wins!

I know of a guy who owned over 2000 firearms, death prevented him from "getting the whole set".
