Hi, I am in need of some information on
carrier adjustments, carrier release adjustments and other components that would
cause a shell to hang up in the lower part
of the receiver. Also would like to know when
the gun was made. The shotgun is a Fn Browning auto-5,16ga,serial # X12400...Earl

That is far too complex an issue to take up here. I recommend a good gunsmith.

I do wonder, though, if you are using the right ammunition. Many European 16 ga. Auto-5's were made for a 2 9/16 inch shell, which is shorter than the 2 3/4 inch that is standard in the U.S. Obviously, the longer shell will not work through an action designed for the shorter.

I suggest a chamber measurement. If it is too short, you can try finding the right ammo, or look into modifying the gun by reaming the barrel and installing the right type parts, but that would be an expensive proposition.
