RCBS uniflow vs Lyman Gen 5

Howdy all,

I have a Lyman Gen 5 electronic powder trickier which I love. I also have an RCBS Uniflow. My press is a Lee Classic Turret (LCT) press. Currently I use the Lyman trickier for all my powder measuring. Usually by the time I finish the the reloading process on the turret the scale is finished measuring the the next load. Then I just use the pan and funnel. This gives me a consistent charge within a tenth of a grain EVERY single time. What i'm trying to figure out is if it would be more efficient to use the Uniflow with the LCT press and the hornady case activated powder drop or continue to use the gen 5. This would mostly be for pistol loads and would still use the gen 5 for rifle loads.

The other side of this would be to continue with how I am doing it until I can get the Hornady LNL AP progressive press. Thank you very much in advance. I guess the general idea is should I trade accuracy (.1gr) vs speed with less accuracy (.2->3gr) with the Uniflow. Thanks again!

I would use the hornady case activated measure in the LCT. I have had problems with the RCBS uniflow in being consistent.

If I keep the hornady measure filled to within a couple inches of the starting point, once is settles down it stays really consistent and it take the human activation inconsistancy factor out of it.

I have three powder measures and the RCBS is my most inconsistent of the three. My other two are case activated and the Uniflow is crank activated.

Some people swear by their Uniflows but I have never had any good experiences with mine.

My Hornady is always spot on.
