Hello all,

I've zeroed my Savage Axis for 55 grain bullets at 100 yards. I've worked up a bit of a load for it, and I'd like some opinions on it.

55 Grain V-Max
30 grains IMR 4064 (working up .2 grains per test load until 33.6)
Winchester WLR Primer
Once fired Remington Cases

Anyway, I'd apprexiate some opinions and suggestions. Also, how often should I trim cases for this caliber?

Thanks for your help!

Regards,

-Mo.

That is a very mild load. Hodgdon website shows 34 grains as a starting load. My 22-250s favorite is 34 grains of IMR 4895 with a 55 grain bullet. I check several fired cases and when they grow beyond about 5 thousands over spec I trim them back To 5 thousandths under.

Hornady lists 34.9gr IMR 4064 as max with the 55gr bullet. (7th edition 2007)

Lyman lists 36.0gr as max (45th edition 1970)

Your call on where to start.
;)

Trim your cases when they hit max length. How many loads this will take depends on the factors of your gun & loads. Measure each time, trim only when needed.
