I've had a Rast and Gasser 1898 for 34 years. I kept it as a collectable and never fired it until this year with Fiocchi 8mm Gasser ammo. I was told it originally took "paper jacket bullets." Is the Fiocchi too much for the revolver?

It's amazing that they still make the ammo which was used in that revolver and others. As long as it's the 8mm R-G ammo it should be OK.It's probably not a good idea to use jacketed bullets. The cartridge is very close to the 32 S&W Long and might even fire it . Reloading can be done using 32 S&W Long data.

The Rast and Gasser 1898 fired the Fiocchi ammo just fine. Side by side with my 1960's Colt 357 Magnum you see a lot of similarities and a lot of improvements in technology with the Colt...especially the metal and precision.
