Rare 8" Vented Colt King Cobra

Yes, I do have an 8" vented King Cobra. I am trying to find more information about it. I purchased it in 1988 from a small dealer in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. I still have the original box and the numbers match the box. The barrel is stamped King Cobra.

The fire arm is stainless in finish and came with original Colt grips. Does anyone have any information about this handgun????

Apparently Colt did make some King Cobra's with vent rib barrels.

If you want to spend $75.00 Colt will send you an Archive letter about your Colt.
This will list when it was shipped, who it was shipped to (probably a bid gun distributor) in what configuration it left the factory in, and how many of the same models were in the shipment.
I'd assume this would mention the vented barrel but possibly not.

You might get more info from some of the collectors on the Colt forum:

There are also King Cobras floating around that were fitted with Python barrels as an after market custom job.

So, "Apparently" Colt did make at least some King Cobras with vented rib barrels that are not after market conversions....DUH.

I bid on one with a 6" barrel several years ago. Research turned up the Colt had produced about 25 of them as a special order. IIRC, that one also was factory ported and the run was made in the mid to late 90's.
