rapper Kayne West claims Bush doesnt care about blacks. I think its rappers that dont care about blacks! I think this is just more leftwing hate mongering and the left is going to try to pin the blame on Bush and not the states that werent prepared. This is going to be another get Bush out of office witchunt by the left. I think one of the bigger problems also was the violence, who is going to want to go in and help and risk being robbed, raped and possibly murdered! Bush would be irresponsible sending workers into a combat zone.
Look at all the gang rap that has molded a generation of violence, all in the name of money and fame. Now who is it that hurts the black culture? Also where's all the help from abroad, America sends manpower, goods and money to other countries in time of disaster. I haven't heard on any major support from our friends in the U.N. or any other source as of yet.

He's just parroting the DNC/DU/Moveon talking points. If you want to hear more, just listen to Howard Dean, he says worse things about Bush on a daily basis.

Rappers may not be anti Black but I don't see much evidence they are pro-Black, except in the purley cosmetic sense. Huey P. Long, George Wallace and Lester Maddox had more positive effect on the Black community! How many schools have been built by rappers? How many young people have been sent to community colleges to learn real life skills? How many churches have been built using rap money? How many Black owned small businesses (other than those selling overpriced blingbling) have been subsidised by rappers? What have rappers done to change the Black community from elitists + serfs to a strong middle class group?

I have no idea what Bush's true feelings are (he's obviously a political animal), but, the bottom line is, he did break ground by appointing not one but two African Americans into his cabinet with Colin Powell & his successor, Condoleeza Rice. One can of course make cynical assumptions about the political calculation he is making... who knows? The bottom line is, he set a precedent there. No matter why he did it, he did it. Here's to Dubya on that one. :)

Rap music puts out quite a sick message, for the most part. Join gangs, shoot people, rob stores, etc. I would say rappers are doing more harm to their culture by making it seem cool to drop out of school, join a gang and do drugs. They're certainly not providing any positive motivation for anyone that wants to succeed legally in life.

I started this post when this lost puppy said that on national tv. I put it in the wrong bread box and Tam shut it down........

I wonder what happened to the 3 second delay thing the networks use to handle it's behavior in public? I guess they forgot to do their homework before bringing it to live tv? Mike Myers looked like his tail was shut in a car door.... Feel bad for him to be standing next to the idiot.

Seems if fingers point at Bush a few are point back at a mayor and governor to the great state of Louisiana too? I thought it went: local, county, state then federal? That isn't giving a pass to the slow actions of FEMA. When I saw Federal Troops (Coast Guard - mostly shown) pulling folks from the storms waste it seemed the government was doing what it could as quick as it could. Did anyone think they would get hot meals, hot showers, hotel rooms and Disney passes the first few days......... Someone better wake up and smell the coffee. The National Guard Troops that came from MI were on the road within 24 hours......and travel speed at around 50-55 in convoy would take them that much more time to arrive in Mississippi. I am tired of the media trying to make everything political....... They are pathetic little people starting with Diane Sawyers interview. :barf:

I bet if George W. would hang himself with one hour notice they would scream and yell it was tax payers rope and he wasn't fast enough with his action.... ;)

God continues to bless America even if some citizens hate to admit it.....or hate to admit they are American.... ;)

I saw when the gendre first came about and people like Will Smith who I respect did have some good songs then rap got hi-jacked by a bunch of criminal thugs. This still doesn't excuse the result of the following it has established as a cultural lifestyle. These thugs should have been ignored by people and sent a message that their ideals were disgusting. I think like most youth problems of today there is a distinct lack of involvement by parents and in some cases no parenting at all. I see it like this, if children are left to their own devices, they will become incourageable wolf pups if the BIG BAD WOLF is the only role model they have AKA RAP!

We have seen a policy of over tolerence today in raising children and this also is the end result. Children in too many cases are raising themselves and the parents or parent is too occupied trying to eek out a living or too self absorbed in having it all now. We have become a culture of wanting it all now and doing so with plastic, as a result people have 2 working family members, and in some cases more than one job. This is what happens with a latchkey society. There are also cultural problems within certain communities that are out of control. The gang mentality is a wolfpack of the previously stated paragraph's comment of wolf pups.

Getting to president Bush, the left is going to try to pin anything they can on him. The fact that the people that could have left and didn't and caused a much greater challenge to rescue people that did cause others their lives will be ignored. There were those who had no means to leave or physically couldn't, they were the victims of those who could and chose not to that had to also be resuced. The fact that it was a war zone and that the state itself was ill prepared is a contributing factor.

I was in disaster preparedness and battle staff in the Air Force and without planning, execution and materials one is at the mercy of foe and mother nature. These plans are written and adapted to unit levels as well as base level. Each unit is expected to execute their plans as would be a state working in conjunction with the base as would a state with the federal Government, but in worse case scenerio a unit is supposed to be able to perform and survive on its own if needed. People are also a big factor in how they respond to these incidents and what they do in the aftermath. I think that the local Governments were ill prepared and are not willing to take the heat. Like I said, why would the president send people in before law and order is restored and put even more inicent people at risk. IT ALL TAKES TIME!!!!!

The people who were performing acts of violence only delayed the response time of help. The left is going to do their usual political hate speech and do their best to get rid of Bush. I didnt see any of them doing much of anything but monday morning quarterbacking and doing their best at political assassination. What has the democratic party done lately not only for the black community, but for anyone except stand in the way of progress and unity.

Hang on a minute mate. Australia has sent 10 million dollars to New Orleans City, and 20 paramedics. I know it isn't a lot, but it's better than nothing, and every bit has to help.

LOL to those who kept saying mike meyers was supporting him in other threads take a good look at the video. Thats a face of shock not a face of support lol. Chris tucker seemed shocked himself LOL.

Not be be racist but theres a big difference between a black person and the N word. There are a lot of decent black people out there. Its just that all the bad ones give people a reason to stereotype.

There are also rappers like Missy Elliot who are totally opposite of the thung gangsta type.

secret

I have a little secret for you select few on this list... And first I must clarrify that I am not a fan of George W....but he is the president and deserves the respect of the office if nothing else. If you ever get the honor of visiting his private quarters at 1200 Penn. Ave. look at the artwork they have there you will realize that he is not anti black. Just one of those surprises.

Um, it's 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue... ;)

Isn't Kenye West the rapper at whose party attended by numerous celebrities there was a SHOOTING last week?

I know it was a black guy (Marion Knight, a thug rap producer) who got shot. The rest of the black guys in attendance have refused to identify the shooter.

I will believe it was a not-a-black-guy who shot Knight the day I see him on CourtTV at his sentencing. Until then, I will bank on the notion that the shooter was also black.

So all the "witnesses" didn't see nuthin'. No help from them so that the police can apprehend the suspect. No one even giving a description. So WHO is it, again, that is failing to look out for blacks' interests?

I didn't see Owen Wilson show up at a party and shoot Vince Vaughn, you know. Why is the celebrity violence almost always black-on-black, and rapper-on-rapper?

There has to come a point when it is not politically-incorrect to point out these correlations.

that is more than enough friend.

i can't believe we are helping those morons who stayed so they could loot, party or just simply ride it out. yes i know some people could not leave. but i see a lot of healthy people running around on the tube. what a huge waste of our tax dollars.

Hate to say this mate but the american media seems to be quite slow when it comes to reporting POSITIVE things. It does not sell newspapers like crimes and killing of little children in schools and disaster areas does. Especially if it involves firearms.

I thank Australia for their support, the ones that really peeve me are the ones we send millions and billions to and the ones that we are there time time and again. I also can see the media isnt real good at reporting it and I have to wonder if it is more than coincidental, but then again they are Katrina 24/7.

sorry

sorry about the 1200 penn... I had just finished driving for 5 hours and my brain was foggy.... of course it's not that clear on normal conditions...

You know, eventhough I do not agree with Mr. West's contention that GWB doesn't care about black people, I have to admire the man for refusing to read the teleprompted script and simply speaking the truth as he sees it. It would be easy to say Myers could read and West could not. That may well be the case, but I don't think so. Perhaps Mr. West was ill informed, but he was not speaking script to garner a little more publicity from the latest story in the media.

His truth may not be the same as mine, but that does not invalidate it. Because of his sincerity, I am forced to consider it.

Two weeks ago, if you would have said XB would defend a rapper's freedom of speech against a president I admire on these forums, I would not have believed it.

You presume truth and sincerity because he went off teleprompter? He could just as easily have gone off prompter because: he wanted to promote his new album with a little controversy; he hates Bush; or he's simply one of those who tends to make stupid unfounded comments at every opportunity.

He's got the right to say what he wants (although I bet he breached his contract with NBC by going off script). But that doesn't lend him credibility where there are plenty of reasons to question it.

'His truth'?

If it is only 'his truth' then it is not truth. It is opinion. Truth is truth. Furthermore, you are not 'forced' to consider it. Mr. West gaffed on national television. He has the right to speak his mind. He does not have the right to be heard. His comments were the verbal equivilant of a fart on stage, as evidenced by Mr. Meyers' facial reaction.
