Please consider this article the next time you want to flex your unprofessional gun-control agenda. Self defense is a basic human right. And before you just delete it, since this is the result of your agenda you can at least view the carnage. I believe you would say these women should "just call 9-1-1", perhaps you can explain to them and their families why you support disarming them. Oh, that's right, at least nobody was shot. Central Park Terror
Gang of 15 strips,
sexually abuses 4 women

By MARTIN MBUGUA, MICHELE McPHEE and BILL HUTCHINSON
Daily News Staff Writers

roving gang of hooligans stripped four young women naked and sexually assaulted them in and around Central Park yesterday in a brazen, daylight rampage through the heart of the city, police said.

Without warning, the pack of about 15 men swarmed the women — in the park and along Central Park South — first drenching them with water, then ripping off all their clothes and groping them during a 35-minute spree.

"I grew up here, but this was the worst I've ever seen in New York," said Rita Berlin, 26, who saw one of the victims standing at Central Park South and Sixth Ave. screaming.

"She came out of the crowd. She was naked, completely naked. We were mortified."

One woman, a French tourist, was sexually assaulted in the park as her husband, who was restrained by several of the thugs, watched in helpless horror. Three of the victims also were robbed, cops said.

Police last night arrested two 24-year-old men and were looking for the rest of the gang.

Central Park South was bustling with sun-soaked evening strollers at 6:15 p.m. when the group of 15 men began their assaults on Central Park South, turning the posh strip into a gauntlet of terror.

They circled a 16-year-old girl and an 18-year-old woman, tore off their clothes and groped them, police said.

The gang then moved into the park, striking at 63rd St. and East Drive around 6:20 p.m. They pounced on the French tourist, 28, who was strolling with her 29-year-old husband, cops said.

While several men grabbed the husband and held him, the others stripped the woman and sexually abused her, police said.

About a half-hour later, the marauding band attacked an 18-year-old tourist from England inside the park at 59th St. and Center Drive North.

Police did not immediately release the names of the two men arrested but said neither has a criminal record.

Gloria Robinson, 46, of Queens, rushed to the Midtown North Precinct station house last night when she heard her son had been arrested in the attacks.

"I spoke to him," Robinson said of her son, a sporting goods store manager, whose name she refused to reveal.

"He told me, 'Ma, go home, because I didn't do anything.' I was crying and he told me, 'Stop crying and go home.'"

Berlin, who works at Whiskey Park bar on Central Park South and Sixth Ave., said the tear-stained face of the terrified victim is an image she'll never shake.

"She was screaming, just screaming," Berlin said. "There was a gentleman holding her, covering her with his body."

Yup, cowering disarmed prey. That is what you intend for myself, my wife, etc? Hmm, can I pass on that?

"One woman, a French tourist, was sexually assaulted in the park as her husband, who was restrained by several of the thugs, watched in helpless horror."

As a man and a husband I cannot imagine a more horrifying ordeal. Do you think this guy will have nightmares?

No thanks. Not me or my family. Not ever.

How would that story have read, if at any time, the article said, "Suddenly, the husband/wife/woman pulled out a handgun and began firing."

Probably it would never have made the news.

"Several" of the thugs would have learned first hand what 8 years of martial arts have taught me.

If I couldn't get free I would die trying to free myself of them to protect my wife.

The entire story reminds me of wolf and sheep.

Mob Attacks on Women in the Park Stun City (read Eloi)

"'I never felt in my entire life that I couldn't protect myself until then,' said the skater, Peyton Bryant, 29, a kickboxing teacher who lives in Manhattan."

"The attacks came during a oppressively hot weekend in which six people were killed and scores of others injured in crimes throughout the city."

"'It is unrealistic to assume that police officers can be everywhere at all times, particularly when they are dealing with a parade,' he (Guiliani) said."

"Ms. Bryant, who said the police were slow to respond to her complaint, contacted reporters after the incident to describe the attack."

Here's the full text of an associated story in the Times. Something to show the "The police will protect you" crowd.

Central Park Victims Describe Police Inaction on Pleas
By SHAILA K. DEWAN

Two victims of a mob assault in Central Park on Sunday have complained that the police were slow to respond to their reports of violence.

The mother of a 16-year-old Long Island girl whose clothes were torn when a group of men closed in on her and a friend and knocked them to the ground, said that the first officer the girls approached did nothing to help them. A second officer, the mother said, directed them to an ambulance. The girls were taken to a hospital, where they were treated for minor injuries and released.

Another victim, Peyton Bryant, said yesterday that she had approached different police officers three times on Sunday evening, telling them she had been assaulted by a Central Park crowd that was out of control, but that each time the police did nothing to stop the unruly crowd, which she described as "a frat party gone bad."

Share your experiences and see what other readers are saying in Abuzz.

Ms. Bryant was one of at least seven women who reported being assaulted in the park on Sunday. "Had the police done something about it when it happened, those other people probably wouldn't have been attacked," she said yesterday.

Sgt. Elias Nikas, a police spokesman, said that Ms. Bryant's accusations were under investigation.

Ms. Bryant was Rollerblading through Central Park around 6:15 p.m. on Sunday, when she skated into a crowd of about 50 men and was doused with water and beer, said Patrick Orlando, a friend who was bicycling behind her.

In the midst of the crowd, Ms. Bryant said, someone grabbed her backpack, pulling her to the ground. Ms. Peyton, a 29-year-old marketing director who also teaches kick boxing, said she fought desperately to keep the men from pulling off her shorts, while the crowd chanted "Go, go, go." Fearful that she was going to be raped, she began screaming, she said.

After about five minutes, someone from the crowd told her to hold onto him and lifted her to safety.

Ms. Bryant said that she immediately told a police officer in the park what had happened, but that he did nothing. Two police officers outside the park told her that she could file a report, she said.

"My point to them was, the crowd is out of control now," she said.

Outraged, Ms. Bryant and her friend reported the incident to a group of officers sitting near F.A.O. Schwarz, she said.

"They had absolutely no interest in going toward that area," Mr. Orlando said. "No one stood up. No one moved. No one got on the radio to report the problem."

Damn, Oatka. I saw only one or 2 posts on that "Abuzz" board besides yours where it looked like the writer had an I.Q. higher than room temperature. (That said, I've worked with folks from NYC and none were that bad...)

Does anybody suppose that bad morale or burnout may have affected those NY LEOs that seemed to hesitant to help out? You almost can't blame them- the news media, with the help of Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, etc. have not exactly been kind to them since the Diallo tragedy.

Those monsters who pulled this need to have their membership in the human race revoked.

From casual observation I've deduced that the police are just about worthless in any kind of real emergency situation. Most will either not believe the reports or will sit on the sidelines for whatever reason.

There was another situation in Boston where an unruly street party got out of control. Several hours and 30+ calls to 911 later, the cops arrived to find one dead 17 yr old kid who had just been walking home down the wrong street.

The fact that this went on for 35+ minutes w/o police response is one thing. The fact that nobody else in the park did anything for all that time is pretty bad too. Can you say, "Nation of Cowards?"

The Times' message board mentioned earlier is kaput as per this notice:

"The question or bulletin has been disabled.

Ah, Freedom of Speech - somebody probably mentioned the ethnicity of those creeps, so
the curtain comes down.

I say:
When you have a gang of thugs, one person can't exactly overpower them. There would have to be a concerted effort for a number of crowd members to all attack at once. If I'd of been there at that point and at that time with my pre-ban Mak-90 (with 30 round mag., of course) I feel that I would have been reasonably able to "break it up", so to speak.

Until New Yorkers get their head out of their liberal f**king a*ses and vote some people in that will allow them to defend themselves this type of activity will continue unrestrained.

"Nation of Cowards" ... bloody he11. The potential Bernard Goetz's probably all remembered what happened to him in thanks for his actions.

*sigh*

Glad I don't live in NY.
