I have a box of (RA9SXTP) Winchester Ranger SXT 127gr +p+ 9mm in the brown and blue box. The bullet has the black lubalox coating and a brass case. I also have a box of (Q4280)Winchester SXT 127gr +p+ in a white box without the lubalox and in a nickle case. What is the difference.

lubalox

some departments for political reasons specified no black coating. NYPD was one of these departments. now the current loads do not have the coating.

127gr.......

I have shot 100 rds. of this "white box" stuff (CZ-75 and P226). This is excellent ammo with much less muzzle flash than GD 124gr. plus P. It was made in 1995 but ammo of this quality can last a very long time. According to some inside sources, NYPD wanted a non coated Ranger Talon (PR reasons) but at the last minute opted for the Gold Dot 124 plus P. The rest goes without saying. Recoil wise, it is very similar to other plus P 124 grainers.
Perhaps the best 9mm round! :D
