Rangefinder question

I am looking at Cabela's selection. Which is the best one out of these:

Bushnell 500DX
Bushnell Yardage Pro 400
Tasco Laserlite Model 800

I only need a range of about 300 yards. And it does not need to be an uber-optic either. I can afford any of these three really -- so which is best?? Thanks!!

All three of these have the same ranging lasers inside. The technology is licensed by Laser Technology in CO. Any of the three are good. The one to stay away from is the Bushnell compact 800 (not on your list). It allegedly has some problems in manufacturing.

I've got the Bushnell 400. Bought it when they first came out. Use it mostly for archery hunting situations. Not a bad unit, I've had it in real wet/cold weather and seems to hold up well, changed battery once in three years.

While you didn't mention it. I bought a Simmons LaserMag 800 a couple years ago. Have never had trouble with it. And I've ranged in excess of 1100 yds with it in ideal conditions. I can usually get real good readings in all but the nastiest conditions, heavy rain, haze(light fog), snow.

Offered up as comparative option...
Good luck with your purchase.

Best Regards,
Don

I bought a Bushnell 800 from Cheaper Than Dirt. It works fine. It has zero error on my measured 100-yard range. So far, it has been apparently-accurate on distances that I know as "about" as in "about 400" and it sez 389, etc. I guess I'll have to check it out at a surveyed 440-yard distance. I'll report back on it in a couple of weeks.
