Range shooting & Gun rental - Northern NJ?

Hi -

I am back in NJ (from CA) for a few weeks and I recently started shooting in CA.

I've noticed there are many ranges in Southern NJ which rent pistols for use on their range.

Anyone know of any place in Northern NJ which rents handguns to target shoot?

I live over in Wayne, NJ and the only place which seems to rent is the NJ Firearms Academy in Jersey City, but they *require* a $150 training course, even if you know how to use a pistol! I'm more than happy to demonstrate my knowledge of safe handling and operation of a firearm, but being required to pay $150 is a bit ridiculous!

Anyway, seems like all the reasonable places are in Southern NJ, but I'd spend more time in the car driving than I would shooting.

Any suggestions welcome.
 
Gun rental in NJ

That is because:
1. the law for "Temporary transfer of a firearm" in NJ does not apply to a business entity, it applies to individuals and there is no provision for a business to "rent" or temporarily transfer a firearm to an individual in the NJ Statutes.

2. We carry 4 layers of insurance to run our school and the ONLY accident we have had in ten years has been two 'slide-bites' which required one band aid each.

Would you have a stranger off the street come and shoot firearms at your place of business and assume that liability? In NJ??

Look at the grief the West Side Pistol Range is going through since that recent suicide there from the city and the feds.

Rays Sport Shop had one a while ago too.

So we have to physically see the individual demonstrate all of the safe and responsible gun handling before handling a live firearm. we train literally hundreds of individuals annually, and we put out world class shooters. That is from training from the ground up.

We are a school. TRAINING is our business.
