After my teeth stopped rattling this weekend from shootin the .50 BMG, I tried out three new pistols I picked up over the past year - a Sig 225, Sig 226 and a Glock 19. A friend gave me 300 rounds of 115 gr. 9mm "Winclean" for the occasion. I split the ammo evenly amongst the three pistols (that's 100 each for any liberals...)
I was shooting both from a pistol rest and offhand. The target was set at 25 yards and there was absolutely no wind. the temperature was a comfy 70.
I had no FTF or other malfunctions. I was very impressed with the Sig triggers, particularly the 226. It has the smoothest double-action squeeze of an semi-auto I've fired. Target aquisition on the Sigs was more natural for me; the Glock seemed to point high and forced an unnatural wrist angle for me.
From the rest, I was able to group shots 4"-5". Offhand, let's just say I was on the paper.
For overall handling comfort and accuracy, the Sig 226 wins hands down. This is one sweet pistol. The mag well opening is generous and the mags always drop free. The little exra size and weight of the 226 absorbs that much more recoil. Field stripping requires no tools and literally takes seconds. If you are looking for a fantastic full-size 9mm, this is it.
