My wife and I took her new wheelgun to the range this morning.
It is a S&W Model 60-7 LS Stainless fit with Houge grips and a trigger job.
We took 4 boxes of PMC 132gr. FMJ .38sp.
My wife has shot .38sp through my GP100 6" with a full barrel shroud with no problem.
I explained to her that her 2" barrel would be a little "snappier" than my GP100.
She loaded it up and I told her to shoot it single action first to get used to the sights and feel out the gun.
On her first try, she proceded to put 5 in the black (3") from 7 yards (its a five shooter). She reloaded and put another 4 out of 5 in the black (3") single action with one low flyer. She simply turned to me and smiled when she was done. I just sat there with my mouth hanging open.
The guys at the range were laughing and told me I better not piss her off.
Double action was more of a challenge for her from 5 and 7 yards she put 5 on an 8" plate which she was happy with. She just needs to get the feel of the trigger and watch her pull.
The gun already has a trigger job that has lightened it up a bit so I have know doubt she will become a good shot double action with this revolver.
I decided to have some fun and shoot it from a rest at about 50 yds. I was able to get 3 out of 5 on a paper plate. I'm not an expert shot but I thought this was pretty good for me.
A guy at the range had a S&W .38 Air Weight 2". He let me shoot it to compare to the SS Model 60. The SS Model 60 was MUCH more "shootable", the Air Weight was just too light.
Overall it is a GREAT .38 revolver. Nice weight which my wife likes, nice "pop" when you shoot it, recoil is very manageable for a short barrel and the action was smooth as glass.
I feel very confident knowing my wife will have this gun as her CWC.
Simple to operate and packs a punch.
I would reccomend this revolver to anyone looking for a wheel gun to carry or just to have fun with at the range.
