Range Report Redux: CZ75 B 40S&W Pistol

Got my CZ75 B 40S&W pistol back from the gunsmith (West Coast Gunworks in Stanton) with the Meprolight Tritium sights installed. I also put the Hogue Rose wood grips on the gun. The result is an even better gun than before.

Anyway, I took the pistol to FT3 Tactical, my range of choice, and put 110 rounds through it. The sights were right on the money (great job WCG!) and the gun functioned flawlessly. The groups were good; the limiting factor is me, not the gun, and the all-steel CZ handles the recoil of the 40S&W round no problem. Overall, a great afternoon at the range with the CZ!

The Meprolight sights really help me stay focused on the front sight -- the white dots are much brighter and more vibrant than the rather dull and dim stock sights.

Very nice! The 75's in .40 seem to be in relative short supply compared to their 9mm counterparts. I've never actually handled a 40 in person. Do you have one in 9 as well? If so, how do they compare as far as ergonomics and balance?

Don't have a CZ in 9. Maybe someday.

I had a notion that the CZ in 40 was a cool gun because the all-steel construction and weight helps the gun deal with the 40S&W recoil. This is in fact the case. I can shoot my CZ all day in 40. I put 110 rounds downrange yesterday with it and enjoyed every second.

I have shot the CZ in 9mm and it was a very mannerly gun. What would really be cool would be to shoot a CZ in 9mm and compare that to the ubiquitous Beretta 92fs. The latter has an alloy lower and thus I believe is lighter than the CZ, although the Beretta is not a small gun.

I had actually been looking for a Beretta 96 (basically the 92fs in 9mm) but when I saw the CZ75B in 40S&W I knew that I had found my full-size 40S&W gun.

Thank you for the range report. I too enjoy the CZ 75 family of pistols.

The more you shoot it the better you will like it. I just can't afford to shoot as much as I would like.

I'm partial to the CZ 75B in .40S&W as it was the first (of quite a few) CZ's that I have purchased over the years. Yours looks very nice.

Good information about the CZ in 40s&w. Have only heard good things about them. I noticed that ypu added wood grips. Looks nice. That's one thing I really like abput metal framed pistols is the ability to change put the grips. Can't wait to add a set of wood grips to my 96a1.

I have both the CZ-75B in 9MM, and the Beretta 92FS. The felt recoil impulse is very similar for ME, even with the Beretta's alloy frame. The Beretta's barrel does not have to tilt like the CZ's Browning short recoil system. I think this helps transfer recoils straight back into the arm. They are both fantastic pistols. I prefer the CZ overall, but only slightly, and mainly due to the grip, and frame mounted safety.
