Range report on the .38 M&P Model 1905 4th Change

This is the gun I recently posted about, seeking information. I learned that it is about 80 years old. Today I took it out and put about 30 rounds of Winchester (white box) fmj target .38 through it. From 15 yards it consistently shot 4" groups, and I'm not a colmpetition type shooter, just a range rat. Plus, it shot with a VERY smooth action, and with minimal recoil. The double action was a litle heavy, but overall I was impressed on something that was made in the 1920's !! Thanks for all the information.

I still have a 1905 in .32-20 4" barrel that is still a great possum and squirrel getter as well as being a good self-defense weapon. Mine was made in 1919. Fun little guns, aren't they!!!!

I used to have a M1905 4th in 38 Special myself. I traded it for a Browming Hi-Power in 9MM. I did get a deal but, I miss the accuracy of that 6" barrel. It had a poor finish and it was fugly. I only needed to point it though. I like the pre-war S&Ws generally. K frames are just nice period. Remember NOT to use Hoppes #9 when cleaning and Flitz every once in awhile.
