Range Report on Buckmark Contour 7.25

I sold off the Beretta Neos and got a Buckmark Contour 7.25. I've wanted one for a while, but either didn't have the $$ when I found one or couldn't find one when I had the $$. Local range was able to order one. I picked it up last week. Did a 250 round break in. Added a scope and shot it off a sand bag today. The pics below are at 25 yards. One is with Federal Auto Match and the other is Remington Thunderbolt. The squares are one inch. I outlined them before I did the shooting. I'm liking these groups. I like the contoured grip, which is what I assume gives the gun it's name. The trigger pull is very short and while I don't know the "pounds" it's not a hard pull at all. This is the fourth 22 semi-auto I've owned and I think it's a keeper.

Nice shooting. Plus, with a Buck Mark in hand, there is no reason to feel ashamed being seen at the range shooting a Neos.

Liked my Neos, but . . .

Limnophile:
Actually I liked my Neos. I like the "space gun" look and it fit my hands well. The trigger was good too. I just couldn't get the kind of groups I'd like to get. I think with the Buckmark I'm going to feel confident about trying to take a squirrel. Wasn't so sure about the Neos. By most reports the Neos is a good gun. I just couldn't shoot mine the way I wanted. And I did have to send it in for a minor repair once.

Prof,

I restrained myself from saying your groups with the Buck Mark had to tighten up without the bag of shame over your head with a Neos in hand. I know Beretta makes good guns -- I have a Silver Snipe 12 gauge -- but I can't warm up to the look of the Neos. I have a Browning Challenger III, the Buck Mark's predecessor, and I've always liked its looks and performance. But I never got sub-1-inch groups at 25 yd ( < 3.8 moa) like you have. You'd most likely have to pay through the nose for a custom gun and fire it from a Ransom rest to beat that.

Nice group!! I've had my buckmark a few years and have never regretted a single day. It's a whore loves any kind of 22 you feed it.

By the way check you tube, type in Rusty22 BMT, which stands for buckmark tool. He makes this tool this is pretty impressive to help with disassembly/assembly of the buckmark and also very helpful in loading the 22 magazines. I bought one and use it all the time. He assembles and disassembles the handgun in less than 5 minutes with this tool.

Congrats on a great purchase.

Good purchase.
I'm quite happy with my Buckmarks (though both are nearly 30 years old, now).

I'd like to get my hands on the "Contour" to see how it feels.

Not a bad little tool.

But, I keep a set of hex keys, Torx keys, a Victorinox ("Swiss Army") knife, and a compact driver set in my range bag; aside from the multi-tool, screwdriver set, pliers, and miscellaneous tools that are always in my truck. So I can go above and beyond what that tool offers, on any firearm that I own ... with only about twice as much space taken up in my bag.
It looks like my tools may have cost less, as well. ...If Rusty22 is even making the tool any more. The last price quote I can find was $25 matte and $30 powder coated; and the only recent posts about him or the tool online are people asking whether or not he's still offering them, since no one can get in touch.

Good looking BuckMark; I have that same scope mounted on a Ruger Mark iii Target. My grouping with the Mark iii and the Simmons at 25 yards is generally three rounds in 1/2 inch group with the other two rounds outside the 1 inch bull. Just can't get them all in an inch.:(

I was shooting my Ruger Mark iii Competition Target (with scope, not Simmons) this morning at 1/2 inch dots at 25 yards. With that gun, I shoot until I hit the dot and see the yellow; then move to the next dot. The first two dots went yellow by their second shot, the third went yellow on the first shot and the last one I spent three shots and never touched the dot. But, they grouped at 1 inch, down and right by an inch. Go figure!

I should mention both of those Mark iii's have complete Volguartsen hammer, trigger and springs kits, along with aftermarket hammer bushings. Makes a huge difference in some Rugers. I haven't tuned the triggers yet, but I doubt it will make much difference until I'm firing fast.

Sorry, didn't mean to go off post. Got excited by the Simmons scope and your results with it. I've been impressed with that scope for a pistol.
