Range Report: Guilty Pleasure...

As people may or may not know from a previous post. I just recently bought a kimber stainless pro carry II. My first kimber and first 1911 at that. Well I liked the gun so much. I decided (thank you visa) to buy another one. I got the Kimber CDP II 1911 .45 acp. I shot 50 rounds and had ZERO problems, except a manual error. I didn't push the magazine all the way in by a little and it failed to load once, but no real big deal. Better than my stainless pro carry II did its first 50 rounds and that thing shoots like a well oiled machine now. So clear skies for this gun I believe. Also might I add, this is the most accurate gun I've shot. Heres the target from the range. FYI I wasn't aiming for the X in general just chest shots. By florida law I have to wait 3 days before I can take it home and baby it. So Wednesday I'll post pics asap!

I am truly jealous! Congrats on your new purchase(s).

Need pics!!!!!!!!
I know I almost used my cell phone to take pics, as I know I would have wanted to post them, but I left my phone in my car. I'll make sure I take some pics and post them the moment I have it in my posession

Cool new gun.

I might suggest that you work on your grip a little. It looks like you are letting your wrist "break" a little when you shoot. That is why your group is stringing vertically.

When I was instructing I would frequently have students who insisted the sights on our training guns were off. The accuracy of the guns ws OK, we had to work on their grips (once we were able to demonstrate that the guns worked perfectly well, thank you).

I had the CDP compact. Mine operated flawlessly. Some have reported problems, but mine wasn't one of them. Put ~1000 factory rounds and 2000+ reloads and the only hiccups were with the factory mags. Get some Wilson or Chip Mc's mags and you are set. Congrats on your new 1911, it is a beautiful piece.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. Although in my defense, I did do more than a few triple taps. Not to mention I did aim for a few head shots but shot a little low. I have a tendency to shoot low and to the left. But I'll definately keep that in mind the next time I go to the range.

Thanks, I do have a wilson combat mag for my current kimber stainless pro carry II. I'm probably going to get another one for this kimber as well...

At what range did you shoot that silhouette?

It looks like your "aimed head shots" are hitting his right collar bone. Tighten your grip a little, and don't anticipate the shot. I believe you may be jerking the gun down in anticipation of the recoil.

Enjoy the new Kimber!!
