yesterday I decided to reload some 45lc using information at sixgunner.com. My load was:
24 grains of 110
255 keith bullet
rem brass
cci 350 primer
Let me tell you this load had serious noise and flash not to mention recoil especially out of my 4 5/8 in barrel. Does anyone know of a manuel with similar loads listed.
PS: the load was very accurate and the cases showed no signes of excess pressure.

you are into serious big gun range now buddy. most of his info i feel, is sound. i shoot a lot of his loads in my 7.5" Blackhawk and even at that barrel length it is buck and roar city. WWWWWHHHHHHOOOOO an'it it great. it won't hurt your gun as much as your hand and your ears. rock on

I have shot the 45 colt using 25.grains of winchester 296 with a 250 grain hornady xtp hp,It is a very hot round in the 4 5/8 barrel I have since changed the load to using hodgdon HS6 @ 15 grains, which is a little softer on the hands.I have since bought a Super Blackhawk with the 7 1/2 barrel in 44 to use instead for my heavy loads though.Even though i still love the 45 colt I just feel safer with the super blackhawk than i do with hotroding the 45 colt

Still consider W296 correct powder for 45LC; use CCI350, 300g XTP, any new case, finish with Redding Profile Crimp die, Redhawk/Super Redhawk/TC only.

Or...

more.

My next handgun is going to be a 7.5" Redhawk chambered 45 colt. That just looks like fun...

I like 19.5 gr. of 296 behind a 255 WFT, by the way.
