It's been several weeks, but the cool air today was just too good to pass up. Youngest son doesn't work until evening, so we headed over to Carter's Country for two rounds each of trap. At some point I'll get to where I can shoot four rounds like most of y'all...maybe...but for now, two is fun and not too much.
The shotgun is breaking in beautifully. Not that there are any failures to feed or eject anyway, but the recoil is slightly less than when I first shot it. The Beretta factory rep said this would happen. I look forward to what it's like after a few hundred more shells through it (not all at once, LOL).
I was pretty mediocre in the first round, but I tried to pay attention to what I did wrong, and in the second round got 12/25 (for y'all, I'm sure THAT is mediocre, but when you're learning, and that's an improvement, good deal). Best of all, I beat Youngest Son on that second round <evil grin>
Two things I'm still working on are the placement of the butt of the gun (trying to keep it on my chest wall instead of actually ON my shoulder) and when I do it right, I improve my accuracy. Second thing is to not THINK TOO MUCH. Are my feet right? Am I leaning backward? Am I leading too much? Oops, have the left eye closed? Etc., etc., etc. Guess making things automatic will come with practice.
For any of you who have wives who might want to shoot, or for anybody that doesn't want the full nine yards of misery from a 12 gauge, I can't say enough about this autoloader. If its owner was as good as it is, we'd be spectacular.
Like the bruise just inside my shoulder that's forming as I type....
