I have an SKS and am looking for a range to shoot, indoor or outdoor in the Chicago area.

The only one I found within a half hour distance is in Lombard, I believe it is Article II.

Does anyone know of any others perhaps in the same area? Or any outdoor ranges? Decent pricing?

In IL, tyherw is the ISRA range in Bonnefield, or the Aurora sportsman's club in Waterman.

In WI there is the conservation club in Bristol and the Racine county line rifle club. Rclrc is a private club, I am a member. Its the best and cheapest around.

Other than those u need to find some private land big enough for rifle fire, and hope the owner will let u shoot

The ISRA range outside Bonfield is very nice, but it is probably an hour from Chicago.

Most of the other ranges I know about are pretty far from Chicago. There's a range outside Streator IL, called Sand Creek or something similar. Maybe Sandy Creek?

That's pretty far out from Chicago though. Buffalo Rock outside Ottawa is having legal difficulties from what I understand, but that is an option once that gets cleared up. Also pretty far from Chicago.

Google search Ill. State Rifle Assc. Range is 6 miles from Kankakee river state Park. Must be a member to shoot.

25 yard handgun, 50, 100, and 200 yard rifle range plus skeet range, right on the edge of the state park, about 2 or 3 miles north of Winamac on state road 35---come south on 35 from 30, go thru Knox, past Bass Lake, thru Beardstown, keep an eye out for 500---turn rt. or West on 500, watch for small crossroads at cemetary just past the DNR check station---follow signs to the range---range is top notch, clean, well maintained and free---hours are 9am til 7pm every day but Monday--closed on Mondays---about two hours from Chicago, but well worth the effort---we have many out of state shooters that say it's the best range they've seen---total control is up to the shooters, no range officer, just obey the usual range rules----
