Range bag

I joined just before they started that offer. I never got one.

Go to Wal-Mart and get the right size gym bag. Works great and cheap, too. We can get several guns, ammo, and safety gear all in ours.

Allen makes a nice range bag. I bought one for $20 or so. Holds two pistols in their own padded cases, ammo and has side pockets for shooting glasses and other stuff.

I went through a bunch of cheap range bags. They wear out quickly because of the weight. I happened to be a hardware store one day and saw these hevy duty tool bags. Perfect solution.

Academy Sports has a great size bag for like $35 or so. I could not find it on their site, but they have a few and they are some what cheap.

they are great for competition or short outings with 1-2 guns and they don't cost much more than a pistol rug.

The midway bag is very nice for the money. I got two of them for $39 each...

I got one for rifles and one for pistols and they are well made and versatile.

+1 on a high quality gym bag.

"High quality" gun bags seem to go up in price exponentially. "High quality" gym bags remain pretty darn reasonable. I've been using just such a gym bag for a while now; I keep looking for a better "gun" bag, but have yet to find one that is actually better than the gym bag. [I got it as a branded gift, so I'm not sure who makes it.]

What do I consider high quality?
(1) heavy duty zippers with large teeth for easy zipping (and which are less likely to rip open)
(2) strong seems at all weak points, including along the zipper
(3) a FLAT and possibly hard/reinforced bottom
(4) side pockets
(5) both hand carry handles and a shoulder handle (with pad)

The Midway bag someone listed looks like it's setup to my specs, but I can't comment on the quality as I do not own one.

Search the Gear & Accessories forum for threads started by me. I did a write-up with photos of one of the medium sized Bagman bags.

For a long time, I used a cheap 4-gun hard case by Doskocil and a tool bag for ammo, accessories, and tools. Now that I've got a purpose-built bag, that has it all-in-one, I'm much happier. I smile every time I pick it up.

I do admit that it was hard to convince myself to spend the $85 on it. My wife actually convinced me, she reminded me:"Buy once, cry once. Buy cheap, buy twice."

Check out the Husky tool bags. They make a wide range of tool bags and some are ideal for range bags. I went that route because I wanted something that was tough enough to protect my pistols and all the “range” bags I could find were too flimsy and if they weren’t the were outrageously expensive.

By the time I load two pistols and 2 or 3 hundred rounds of ammunition into my bag it’s getting pretty heavy and a flimsy bag just don’t cut it.

I actually found an excellent range bag at wally world for $19.95. It is a Remington (has their name stitched on it), is well padded and has two "soft " pistol cases included. ok, so the pistol cases are crap, but the bag is well worth the 20 bucks and holds several pistols in zippered bags along with several boxes of ammo. Strong carrying handles also.

+1

All sorts of shapes and sizes.

I also like to be discrete with my range bag. I don't want to attract any attention (i.e. thieves, etc.) with my range bag.

My range bag is from this company. Shooters Ridge

Great product. I can fit 2 handguns w/mags, eyes/ears, target spots, markers, and about 800 rounds if I pack it right. Inexpensive, inconspicous, and built to last

I not only use a tool bag, I went to Lowe's and bought a Firestorm tool bag combo for $5.00 on clearance.

What Thief would be caught sporting a Firestorm tool bag?:p

But seriously, Mine has 2 inner compartments, with pockets sewn along the sides, and two outer pockets, in which I keep my range magazines.

It's perfect for my cleaning supplies, eyes, ears, ammo and 2 or 3 pistols.

Look around garage/yard/tag/rumage sales. I have picked up several American Tourister Cosmetic cases. I have a different one for each handgun that has the standard equipment for that gun. Magazines, speed loaders, holsters, whatever is gun specific, plus a couple sets of ear plugs just in case. I give about $5 for each one and then never wear out.
Grab the appropriate ammo box(es) and toss them in the AT bag, strap it to the motorcycle and I'm off.
