Range ammo for Sig 228

I have done a search on TFL for this info, but have not found a good answer. I may have a chance to attend a handgun training class that reqires the firing of a couple of hundred rounds or more of 9mm FMJ ammo. I need to hear opinions on a reliable and accurate range ammo to be used in a new Sig 228. It is tough in my town to find sveral different brands of 9mm FMJ to try for reliablity before I order the ammo in bulk. Any help would be appreciated.

I like Sellier & Bellot. It's cheap, reliable, accurate, and so is CCI Blazer. Georgia Arms is supposed to be good stuff as well. I honestly get whatever is cheap and available... only the name brand stuff though.

I've run about 2000 rounds of winchester 115 fmj through mine with no problems whatsoever. Then again, I think that I could load rocks into it and it'dd feed and fire just fine!

At the risk of sounding flippant, whatever you want to use. Never had a single malfunction in thousands of rounds of Winchester, IMI, Sellier&Belliot, Blazer, Federal, PMC, UMC, South African surplus, etc. etc. Of all I find IMI quite accurate considering its price. I would shy away from shadowy brands like Russian Wolf, not because your P228 cannot cycle them, but rather because some have had trouble with improperly loaded rounds from like companies.

So many pistols, so little money.

I'm not sure about the 228, but my 226 will eat just about anything. I have found that the IMI di-cut hp rounds are excellent for defensive use, and the price makes it bearable to practice fairly often with the load I carry. Wideners sells it for $185/cs of 1000rds shipping included.
For standard FMJ target stuff, S&B works okay, but tends to be a little dirtier that others. The best compromise between quality and price I've found is Federal's American Eagle FMJ. Factory fresh, very reliable and consistent, and not as dirty. Discount Distributors sells it for $139/cs of 1000rds shipping included. Hope this helps.

DLB, I've had great luck with Fiocchi ammunition in 9mm, using it for both my Sig228 and my wifes Sig225. It's loaded a little hotter than alot of the others mentioned, and its real clean. I just got two cases shipped to my door for $135 per case. I order from Summit Ammunition, they advertise in Shotgun News. Website is www.summitammo.com, phone number is (256)413-7180. Good people to deal with and very fast service. :)
