Ram-Line or Choate "Assault" Stock

I noticed that there is a significant price difference between Ram-Line and Choate "Assault" stocks for the Mini-14.

Is the Choate stock that much superior? In other words, are there any significant functional, durability and ergonomics differences between the two?

Or are they about the same, but Choate is simply more popular (and more expensive)?

I have the Choate stock for my 10/22. I like
it alot. I can't compare it to the ramline one because I have never used or seen one. The choate required some dremel work to get the mags to drop free. Other than that I like it alot.

What do you call an 'assault stock?' I'm not familiar with that term. I do know that Ram-Line is Crap when it comes to virtually everything. They use Cheap ABS plastic and their stocks have always required tons of fitting. My Choates dropped right in with no magazine problems at all on my 10/22, both Mini-14's, 6 SKS's over the years, 5 MAK-90's, countless shotguns of various makes, and an NEF rifle. These are stocks I've installed not just sold. Never had any complaints from buyers and No returns. One guy did take vice-grips to his MAK-90 handguard to try to get it on and ended up ruining it, but other than that, no complaints. GO CHOATE.

From my personal experience Choate are very good. Don't waste your money on anything from Ram-Line.

Had a Choate Pistol Grip stock in camo (very cool look) on my Mini-30, and it was GREAT! I also have choate on everything in the house that didn't come from the factory with a pistol grip. I checked out Ramline first, and the quality just wasn't there. My only problem with Choate is the skinny buttpad area. It's no problem on a Mini, but you put 00buck in my Defender, and that tiny little buttpad shows you what your physics professor meant by ppsi, velocity, displacement, etc!
Now, if Hogue ever made pistol gripped stocks for shotguns and rifles....

Do the Choate.
