Raging Bull life expectancy

Does anyone know what’s the maximum round count you can get from the Taurus Raging Bull. Did Taurus ever release the numbers (i.e. 92FS ~35K acccording to Beretta )? .

Im interested in the .44mag version. Do you think Ruger or S&W .44's would last longer?
 
Impossible to say...some Taurus's are turds and break after a couple shots, some last along time...

But if i had to put my money on which one would last the longest, it would be the Ruger. Tried and true, overbuilt, and proven to be tough as nails.
 
Ive seen Taurus big bores go belly up (more than once) in the first box of ammo.

IMHO Taurus samll frames are OK, their big bores are junk

I have to agree with the other posters. I was at the range this morning and someone had a 45 ACP Tracker lock up on him. Brand new and only 200 rounds the cylinder froze. On the other hand my Taurus small frames are like the energizer bunny- they just keep going and going. Buy the Ruger- they are built like tanks and can take more abuse than Popeye. No offense Popeye. And by the way I have a Ruger Redhawk in 44 mag.

can anyone who's got a Raging Bull in .44 tell me how many rounds they put through one?


I have to say I’m having a hard time believing that a gun that was designed for .454casull and now available in .500S&W won’t be able to take a .44mag reliably.
 
It's useless to look at any round count that someone may put out. Any mechanical devise may break at any time. Being mass produced you have no idea of how long it actually will last. You can only give an estimate based on an average number of items, but your individual item may fall within or outside of that average.

Tauruses are fine in 38, 22 etc...they dont stand up to 44 mag, 454 etc.....

That explain it better....??

Sure I understand that, but even an avarage is a good estimate on how long will the gun last.

I got you the first time. I just don't think that if the gun woudn't work in .44mag they'd make one in .454 or .500S&W :confused:
 
Not really as I have seen brand new guns right of the box come unglued with factory loads. Granted that doesn't often happen, but it shows that anything can happen so don't worry about how long your revolver will last. Just look at it as if you take reasonable care of it and don't shoot over pressure loads then it should out live you.

Ive said it once, ive said it a thousand times...

When it comes to Taurus, their guns seem to be hit or miss...their are plenty of happy customers, but their are quite a few of unsatistfied ones too. I had a tracker in 44 mag...complete and utter junk. The cylinder would come unlocked with anything over medium loads, the lock up was terrable and the cylinder gap was as wide as the grand canyon(.012 from the factory!! :eek: :eek: ) Cruise around other forums, talk to gun shop owners, heck, even fellow taurus owners and youll hear alot of badmouthing about them. There is always a small handful on EVERY forum that will defend them to the death and thats fine...but you rarely hear someone say they wore out, beat up or are completly dis-satisfied with their Ruger.

If you think the taurus are overbuilt and are anywhere near the strength of the rugers, your on drugs!! :rolleyes:

I'm not interested in Tracker version, And I do think think that Raging Bull is overbuilt, well it's bigger than ruger isbn't it? also it has a double cylinder lock up, so I think it should be fine...


so far I don't think anyone who responded has a raging bull. Does anyone here even has one :eek:
 
I dont know about the Tracker or the Raging Bull, but I have had a 6.5 .44 magnum model 44 and have had it for many years now.
I only use full power ammo in it and the only thing that has shot loose is the rear sight, LOL....
 
I strongly dislike it when someone asks a question about a gun and people answer it making suggestions on other guns...guns they think are better...


THE QUESTION IS ABOUT A CERTAIN GUN...ANSWER IT IF YOU HAVE VALID INPUT....

And yes Taurus makes great firearms, I have a model 650, put about 500 rounds through it... perfect little weapon, the big bores.... are kind of iffy, The older ones are not as good as the new ones... I shot the raging bull and it's BADASS... and what a good price.. looks nice, accurate... fits in MY hand great...
 
My dad has a RB in 45Colt. He bought it used a few years ago and has since put about 500 rounds through it. So far, it's holding up fine. Most of his loads are 260gr bullets at standard or slightly warmer than standard 45Colt velocities.

I too have seen so/so performance from the Taurus big-bores. RB 454 a good friend of mine got a while back, we took it to the range, before the first box of ammo the cyl. was locked up tight. Sent it back twice, after the second time and it still wasnt right, he just sold it. I will say though, with the scope mounted, what little shooting we did do with it, it was wickedly accurate (.002 gap helped).

If you can wear out a Ruger Redhawk or Blackhawk, call me and let me know I would LOVE to see that. Ive seen some of those guns that have had thousands of full house (and in all honesty some well-over-full house) loads put through them.
 
That's 'cause all Ruger's are over built, and the action on them is like a tank.. why do you think so many redhawk frames are used for .475 linebaugh's, and I've seen a place that even did a .454 version :eek:
 
Jeffro250 , how does someone walk out of the store with a gun that has a cylinder gap as wide as the grand canyon and a horrible lockup? :)
