Ragin' Cajun!

OK, not what you might think - I got my CZ P-09, worked on by Cajun Gun Works of Monroe, LA out to the line again today. I really like the re-worked trigger, the incredible short reset, and ease of shooting. This was a fun day, and a learning day.

I brought a few rounds of ammo with me...

...one of these boxes is lying...OK, I won't keep you in suspense - the Critical Defense box is actually filled with older Golden Saber rounds which we will be shooting today.
ALL shots fired were at 25 yards, standing two hand hold. This thing shoots so well, I figured I'd better run it out a ways. ;)

First victim was, of course, Thugly. ;)

Golden Sabers. Three on target, 2 clean misses. Not impressing me much. The rest of the GS were about the same.

Much better, 135 grain Hornady Critical Duty - I think I will need this for my carry ammo. Even with the sharp recoil of the heavier +P load, it was still very manageable.

...and then, things went sideways...

That's five rounds of my imitation SD practice load, a 115 grain XTP over 8.0 grains of AA#7. Experts will note this os OVER recommended maximum, and I must tell you, don't try this at home, but it sends that little 115 grain pill screaming downrange at a chrono'd average 1,200 FPS. That should do for javalina and such, too. But, I digress - I saw that group, took a picture, sprayed it and wondered out loud if I could do that again?

And did it again more times. Here lies the dilemma - this round is wicked accurate out of this gun...but I am strictly forbidden by my job from carrying reloads for off duty carry...dang...Well, it will make an excellent hunting load.

I tried paper targets,

By this time I was getting tired - I'm recovering from a nasty head cold and bronchitis, and the constant coughing was getting to me. Only time I will ever use an excuse for poor shooting. I will be honest, the great groups on Thug, I could not duplicate on paper, very weird. I did get this group with the Critical Duty, so I really do think this will make a good carry load.

All in all, a fun day, and I cannot say how much I appreciate the excellent work Dave at Cajun Gun Works has done on my CZ P-09.

David does great work for sure.

Curious, how well do those chains and shackles hold up? I have a similar target and looking to hang it like you did.

Thanks for the pics. I have liked the looks of the P-07 and P-09 since they were first released. I tried handling a P-07 several years back and I remember I really didn't like it at all. From what I recall, it was surprisingly thick and the trigger was very bad... but it's been quite a while.

If I can find a P-09 locally, I'd like to fondle it a bit and see what I think these days. The price seems right if they are as good as everyone says.

I'm especially interested in the Sphinx SDP... but I have yet to find one anywhere to handle locally. They look beautiful though.

Chris, I do have to replace chain links sometimes when others shoot at Thugly...easy enough done. I was using hooks to attach Thug to the chain, but they kept breaking, so I went to the shackles, which I'll probably need to cut off with bolt cutters when the time comes to replace them. Very sturdy so far.

sevt-chevelle, I had the Pro Package put on the P-09, and man can I tell the difference!;)

Nice report. While I still prefer the steel or aluminum frame traditional CZ grips, the P07, and PO9's are great guns too, and I would like to own one someday. I've been thinking of installing some of David's parts in some of mine.
