Radom VIS date codes

There were two "G" series; if your gun has the takedown latch (looks like the safety on a M1911A1) it was probably made between 1941 and 1944. If it doesn't, it is the second G series and would likely date to late 1944-1945. AFAIK, all those production records were destroyed in the war, so anything is a guess. It is not even certain when Radom production was transferred to Steyr, though the later guns definitely were made in Austria, not Poland.

It does seem likely, though, that Radom production was transferred to Steyr in late 1941, far earlier than most sources say, and long before the Russians came close to Poland.

Thanks Jim.
I had done some research when I first bought the pistol and I remember coming up with a 1941 date, but I don't remember exactly where I found that information or if it was even accurate.

My Radom is the three lever version but does not have the slotted mainspring housing as on the earlier models. Craftsmanship is not exactly prestine but appears to be a lot nicer than most nazi marked Radom's I've seen.

Thanks again for the info.
