Quote From Himmler

I ran across this quote and can't verify it but thought it was interesting enough to post.If anyone can verify please tell me and give source.This was supposed to have been said at a concentration camp tour by Heinrich Himmler.
"To be able to kill like this and remain decent,undeterred from the pure end"
Sounds like this could be be a Rosie quote or a HCI one.

This comes from a speech Himmler gave to local party bosses in Posen on October 6, 1943. He was basically saying that it took a special person to kill so many people and seize their property without becoming corrupt or "cruel and vicious." Most of those listening probably thought it referred only to the mass shootings in the east, though the death camps were operating by then.
It's available from many sources. Lengthy excerpts and analysis in Gitta Sereny, Albert Speer: his battle with truth, page 390. As printed there, there are many ellipses to show where Sereny has shortened it.

For a chunk of the speech including the heart of it with no ellipses, see Sax and Kuntz, editors, Inside Hitler's Germany: A Documentary History of Life in the Third Reich, page 392.

Thank you much
Bob

We have a criminal jury system which is superior to any in the world;
and its efficiency is only marred by the difficulty of finding twelve men
every day who don't know anything and can't read.

With the knowledge available on TFL, could be easy to get lazy and dump a couple thousand books.

Scary thought. If the Feds decide that TFL is as dangerous as the library at Alexandria, TFL will surely get nuked.

Nikita Khrushchev predicted confidently in a speech in Bucharest, Rumania on June 19, 1962 that: " The United States will eventually fly the Communist Red Flag...the American people will hoist it themselves."
