Quote from Harry Browne

"Visit the Capitol building in Washington, DC, and notice how many guards are carrying guns," he said. "Politicians say you have to be disarmed to make America safer, but they don't disarm government employees. Senators
and Congressmen may have a compelling need to defend themselves, but is it really more
compelling than your need to defend your
home and your family against criminals?

"Of course not. That's why if I'm elected
president I will immediately sign an executive order disarming every single guard on Capitol Hill -- until Congress fully restores your right to carry a gun."

George W. who?

Let's save the disk space the next 10 replies will take up:

"Wasted vote"
"We won't effect change without voting differently (or something like that)"
blah, blah, blah

We all kiss and make up.

Does anyone think that 80 million + gun owners voting for Harry Browne could get hime elected ?

"If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seeknot your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams

Dark Angel, there may be 80 million gun owners but here are only about 5-8 million active gun owners.

Big difference.

Let's not forget that Feinstein is a gun owner. Ted Turner is a gun owner. A local Texas rep who voted against concealed carry (and was later caught carrying illegally) is a gun owner.

If every gun owner voted like they cared about the Second Amendment to begin with, we wouldn't even have this discussion since no politician is fool enough to cross a voting block of 80 million voters (i.e. over 1/3 of all voting-aged citizens).

CMOS nailed it on the head. Politically active gun owners who vote the Second Amendment aren't numerous enough to elect Browne even if every one of them voted for him (which isn't going to happen for a variety of reasons).

We ARE numerous enough to swing an election to either of the major parties - especially in critical battleground states. Obviously we can have a big effect on the Republican and Democratic parties' gun platform by showing them we can swing an election to the side that best protects gun rights - in this election that is Bush.
