Quite a carry piece

I've tried for some time now - and liked - the Taurus 608 (4", 8-rounds of .357 magnum) revolver as a carry piece. I've loaded it up with Armscor magnum rounds.

Yes, it's on the heavier side but fits rather nicely in an Uncle Mike's IWB holster. No problems with accuracy or follow-up shots; quite stable in action. And its size makes for swift draw from holster. :)

Any comment? Thanks.

I'm carrying a Taurus 85 Ultra Lite .38Spl. +p, and it fits nicely in my pocket. :D I have a Taurus 627 Tracker I tried last year for carry. I don't mind the weight, but concelment is a problem in warm weather.

I bought one after a long search because when they first came out, they were also made with a 3 inch barrel. Thats the one I finally bought...

I like mine and wanted it especially for a CCW. After awhile it does start to drag down on me and I don't carry it as much as I'd wanted to. If you'd like to get a fancier IWB there's a guy out there that just makes them for large guns like this. Cabo holsters I think it is. Google search should bring it up.
I also had Robert Mika make me an IWB for mine for much less than Cabo but it's not leather. It works okay for the price but seats the gun a bit too low below the waist. I prefer to have the cylinder around the waistline, not below it. When I do carry it, I carry it OWB ina Shado holster for an N frame. Mine fits fine in this holster. www.shado.com

Anyway, the gun is pretty good. My only gripe is trying to find wood grips for it. Hogue makes some exotic wood ones but I'm not spending 100 bucks on grips for a 300 buck gun.

Luv my 608SS4

I have a Bianchi 7001 rh thumbsnap holster for mine.

I had it cut for moon clips and had the action and trigger worked on.

Its as smooth as silk, has good sights, and with 8rds, I don't have to worry about counting to 6. ;)

FYI: I use an N-frame 4" holster for it.

Newbie

Hi. What would you recommend for a newbie with small hands? I love the pictures of those 2 guns. How's their kick? Can they also take ammo for snakes? Forgive dumb questions. I want a gun for defence and enjoyment and C & C but those Rugers and S&Ws have been pretty lg. and heavy. Pls. advise. :)

For warm weather and all day carry- a small 5-shot 38 would be in order. I have a Taurus 85 steel 38 21oz blued which is great. I am currently shopping for a 6+ shot 357 or 38 with a 3 inch barrel for the cold months here in New England. Whatever you choose make sure the operating controls are the same. Taurus and SW cylinder release push forward but ruger pushes in. In a heated moment every second counts and it is easy to forget the little differences. Since you have a Taurus full size-get a taurus snub.

Bought a Taurus 905 in 9MM for carry have to say at first didn't like it.But now after about 250 rounds have to say I think it is a great little gun. With just a 2" barrel fits very nice in the pocket. :p
