What is exactly 'dry cycling'?
Is it where you have a fully loaded pistol and you basically pull the slide back to eject the round in the chamber but you allow the next round to be chambered and then 'cycle' it out - thus emptying the entire magazine? I'm assuming this is a way to test if you are having troublew with FTE's.

Could someone clue me in!

thanks!

I understand the term to mean cycling the slide on a auto-loading pistol by hand, with no ammunition in the gun.

Its a new term to me....the suggestions above sound reasonable, but my first thought was that it describes pressing the slide release and letting the slide slam shut on an empty chamber.

I'm not sure if that's dry-cycling or not, but its a poor way to determine if you are having problems with FTEs...

Unless you're working with a recently fired cartridge, this will only point out a very major problem with an ejector or extractor. Once fired, a cartridge can change size and shape, and ejecting an unfired shell doesn't mean much...
